The Role of Riley Nelson in Y Offense

NOt for the last 4 seasons Because Max didnt exactly have a cannon for an arm either? Its also a very easily picked ball, if im not mistaken. So, while I blast Anae for alot, "ball control" means dont throw balls that your QB cant throw. Beck had the arm. Heaps has the arm. Max closer. Riley shouldnt even consider it.

Yeah, Lark had a great week of practice and then didn't do much once the teams went "live." Hopefully he'll have another great week of practice and then feel little more comfortable in the next scirmmage He closed the gap between him and Nelson last week and probably could have overtaken him with a better scrimmage showing. Maybe that will come next time.

I thought that was happen as well. Riley just refuses to go away. it further goes to show that he is a gamer.

Sniping at a 23-year-old kid over perceived character flaws on an anonymous message board = kinda uncool. Especially when said flaws haven't manifested themselves as actual bad behavior.

He better be careful with that hair or else the honor code office will start sending undercover agents to watch his every move ready to throw the book at him the second his hair touches his collar.

I tend to disregard posts like this unless you personally know him. I doubt what you say is true regarding him being about himself and not the team.

The nerve of player stating he wanted to work as hard as he could so he would be ready should the starter ever go down and the team needed him. Talk about a me-first attitude.

jay Drew just tweeted that he thinks lark is number two now? huh? his reasoning was that lark was running with the twos today. he is going to ask bronco.

I think it's a good thing. If Lark really wants to move up the charts he needs some times with the twos to show what he can do. But Nelson is still clearly the #2 guy.

Forget about the honor code coming after him for his hair, Riley should watch out with his jersey being tucked up under his pads. Doesn't the honor code saw something about shirts can't show your abdomen when you lift your arms up? I'll tell you what, I am not big on Riley being a qb, however when the scuffle started between the db's and the receivers, boy went head first right into the middle of the melee(?) and was shoving people around and trying to break it up. If he doesn't mind mixing it up, and likes to hit people (as we saw when he ran the ball every snap that he took last year) then why aren't the coaches or why isn't he moving somewhere he can get on the field and hit? It's obvious all the coaches are high on him and think he can contribute so why not move him where he can truly have a shot to play. Plus I think you all are falling into DMcougars trap, I think he said that because he knows there are a lot of Nelson family member's or friends and he wanted to stir you up!

Yeah, they ALL stunk today. At least the D is starting to catch up with the O.

It seemed to me that he was in the middle of the field, standing in the middle of the pocket, or just out of it to the right. I might be wrong about that, though I usually go with my memory recall abilities.



I agree with it being thrown on time. Had he thrown it upfield. instead of to the sidelines, it is a TD walking backwards. It should have been caught either way, by D-1 standards.

This. In HIGH SCHOOL it was a sin not to catch the ball if you got your hands on it! (and, of course, you'd get the "pretty hard to catch when it hits you in the hands like that" comment from one of the coaches)

That was a cheap shot to Riley. I think he should have made his injury public last year and that to me crossed the line, but C'mon - going after a guy cause he has the audacity to wear "dark glasses like the cops in Texas."



That's just weird, man.

one reason the d dominated today was that bronco unleased some new stuff. also it was almost all third and long situations if i understand correctly.

Yep, non-disclosure last year as well. All about the team isnt he? Not disclosing that he is struggling to make throws bc of his injury, because he didnt want to lose his starting job? then not rallying the team around the "cocky" freshman who, notwithsatnding, was out performing him in practice and yet put under tough circumstances to take over the starting job. Hmmmm....



I just have never seen clear evidence of the "character" that folks talk about with Riley. Its called the persona (appears Joe cool, texas cool, LA cool--whatever)-- narcissism without the performance to back it up; and the pattern of these things starting to create a picture of "all about himself". And what of the breaking his commitment with Utah State?

It has nothing to do with his hair and whether he is breaking the honor code or not. Just look at the guy: "Look at my beautiful hair. Look at my cut abs. Look at my sunglasses". Sure he's a "tough", competitive, supposedly speedy (no clue how Jake beat him in the conditioning drill) player-- who no doubt could care less what I think. BUt, nonetheless, I wish him well. I just think he is trying to compensate in his looks with where he lacks in his performance.
