While I want Bronco around for a while, I do agree with this. The running man offense has been extremely boring to watch. The offensive plays called for and executed by Lark were much more exciting, but the opponent wasn't. I fell asleep during the game, and haven't gone back to watch what I missed. Honestly, I have been more excited watching games of teams I don't live and die for than I have for much of BYU's games. Hopefully a change at Oline gives Hill more time to make some better passes and he uses his legs only when the plays break down rather than the primary offensive tool. A decent field goal kicker could add to some of the drama as well, rather than watching a team running on five cylinders.

Although stats say we had top 10 defense and I will agree our defense was generally very good, even amazing at times, anyone who watches more than just byu for all knows we didn't have one do the 10 best defenses on football. Probably closer to 20 or 25. Our defense was nothing like tcu of years past or bama or most top 10 teams. We also played teams with their most disappointing offenses in years. A Utah or bsu offense of old would have shredded us. Every decent offensive team we played this year were able to match or beat their average offensive out put. Our run d was great. Our passing d was very suspect.



We need more intensity overall on both sides of the ball. More accountability for on the field performance. Better utilization of talent. Play the best players instead of favorites. And no more Riley. If bronco or doman lose their jobs, they can write Riley to thank him for that. I will again repeat that Riley has been the worst thing to happen to byu football since crowton.

I was referring to Bronco's assesment that Manti was unlikely to start at BYU, which now seems a little silly given that Manti went on to beat out a bunch of very athletic highly recruited players at ND and became a Freshman All American.

Bronco never said that Manti would never start at BYU troll. He said that he was "unlikely" to start as a freshman. Since we had 5 Sr linebackers the year he would have been a freshman at BYU that statement was true. He may have come in and beat out one of those linebackers, we will never know, but it was his choice to not come to BYU. Sometimes guys don't come to BYU when they are being recruited but that doesn't mean that a coach that recruited a guy very aggressively has "missed" on his talent when that person chooses another school.

Ok, then if he was that bad Manti wouldn't have had any trouble beating him out then would he? The problem is, he chose to go somewhere else. There was no misevaluating talent here.

No one knew 4 years ago that Manti would be a contender for Heisman this year. Detmer and the BYU staff didn't know that Ty would win it when Ty first came to BYU. Manti was heavily recruited by Bronco. Bronco wanted Manti & knew he was talented. One never knows how a player will do until it is proven on the field. And by the way, Manti wasn't a Heisman contender his freshman year--very good, but not a Heisman contender.
