Utah QB Situation

Hawkwing asked me some questions about U Question Marks. Put an Asterisk by THIS:



Jordan Wynn was not re-elected a team captain. He had a good response to the question when asked by the media - acknowledging the two chosen to represent the offense and acknowledging that he only played in four games last year. He said he will still be a leader.



*Leadership Issues?



Jordan Wynn has not been throwing for three days and will be held out a bit longer due to his annual soreness issues in his shoulder. He and KW say all the right things. He is still the guy. They just want to rest the arm. He will be ready.



*Sore Armed QB Issue round 2. Will he be ready or "Sore Arm" ready? If ready week 1 will he be sore by week 3? Can KVN or Ziggy or others make it more sore. Will Y be all over U QBs?



Not that I follow U closely, but my daily Deseret News feed has all sports articles including Timpview losing it's opener to Alta or someone like that.

ALl I know is tht when QBs get held out of Fall camp for 3 days running, it is not for routine reasons. I understand giving a day off here and there for known starters who know the schemes so you can cut down on hte wear and tear and grind, but 3 days?



Sorry, that is fishy, IF Wynn is not back on Monday, it tells me that he might not be seeing hte field too much this year.



And no way Utah beats us with Hays or Wilson at QB. Not this year with the D we have.

If they don't have Wynn, they're in real trouble on offense. I'm worried about their offense, even with Wynn. I'm not sold on Brian Johnson as a first year offensive coordinator.



I don't care how good your defense is. If you're offense is going 3-and-out consistently and can't score or throw the ball, you're going to lose a lot of games.

Wynn is vulnerable. If he is still available week 3, BYU will put him out of the game. And don't forget, lesser qb''s than Hays (was it Louks?.) kicked our trash after we knocked out the starting qb.

Wouldn't it be awesome to put Wynn out of his misery and kill the Utes and get flipped off by KW???

I dream of an off-side kick recovery after we go up 35-0.

....And get beer poured all over our fans and players.

And have the police show up unable to contain the malaise if we kick the Yewties?

And wouldn't it awesome to have our fan section start singing "....hey, hey, hey, goodbye as a symbolic gesture that they can take their PAC 10 and this rivalry and shove it??

He will not be back Monday if I understood the article - said maybe another three days. IDK if they are counting Sunday. Maybe Wed or Thursday. Sounds like our punter saga

As of now, I'll be surprised if Wynn starts the first game. I can see KW cutting his losses with the princess and moving on to the next guy hoping he'll be able to pick up the offense by the BYU game.

Latest D-News article indicates Wynn will be back Monday prepping for No. Colorado. It also indicated that he had not practiced fully since Wednesday - so Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were the three more days mentioned - plus Sunday.



Report indicated backup QBs were not sharp in scrimmage Saturday and last year's backup, Hays, has the edge despite his limitations.



Another article indicated USU has the best QB situation in the Rockies with two returning starters, but did not mention how they will replace Turbin and Wagner.



U article also mentioned that one starting tackle position will go to a senior who has been out with a high ankle sprain backed up by a freshman and the other will go to a junior with no back-up identified yet.



Y needs to hammer the tackles enroute to hammering U QB.

With their current situation, it looks like White is going to be getting 30 carries a game again.

Utah fans who are not extremely concerned about this season are "fans" who don't understand the game.

White didn't run wild on us, until the defense quit when it realized the offense and special teams couldn't do their share to win the game or even hold onto the football.

It's surprising how many have forgotten that fact. In the first half, our defense was knocking the Yewts all over the field. White, himself, said it was like "running into concrete." It was only when the D threw in the towel that he started gaining big yards.



I'll say it again. If Bronco has an ounce of self-respect, he'll never allow one of his teams to quit like that again. Especially the side of the ball he's in charge of.

Yep, White had like 9 carries for 18 yards in the first half. Finished with 22 carries for 184 yards, 3 TDs.



1st half: 2 yards per carry, no TDs.

2nd half: 12.8 yards per carry, 1 TD per 4.3 carries.

It was after White's 2nd long TD run that I did something that I almost never do - I got up and left. I figured if the team had quit, I might as well too.

I predict that by the 2nd half of the Utah game, we will know who's shoulder repair is holding up better. Wynn's or KVN's. However, if KVN is having trouble with his shoulder, there is a chance we won't notice. KVN's shoulder is carrying a superior head. 8)

IMHO - the old fox - Norm Chow threw something at the Cougs that Bronco had not prepare for - same play twice or thrice. Two TDs. Back breaker. No adjustment .

Bronco's strength has always been making adjustments. :P
