What do Jay Cutler and Jake Heaps have in common?

Interesting read. Happens in the NFL too. And Cutler is a tough guy. Just that no one likes getting hit on about every play. Difference is, her e Cutler outed his O-line for protection issues, and Jake never has, even if perhaps he should.

Being a former offensive lineman, when our coaches called us out, we responded. I like Bronco a ton, I think he's a great coach. However, I think he needs to let the line have it, like he did last year to the receivers and if guys don't respond, then get them off the field. I remember once the qb yelled at us coming off the field and that didn't go over well because we then responded with "well when we do give you time, you throw a pick or it's incomplete so what's the difference". I think something of similar wording could be expressed to Jake. I think Bronco calling them out is a better idea. But someone needs to call them out, lets get these boys motivated.

I agree. Until Jake is an upperclassman, it needs to come from the coaches.

Cutler has been sacked 13 times in three games. I think Heaps has been sacked 6 in four.

But he hasn't had much time for a big portion of the games. He keeps throwing it away at peoples feet. He holds on to those balls, he gets sacked.

Jake is throwing it sooner than he needs to throw it. At least two of Jakes sacks came on a slow developing rollout to his left where he turns his back to the defense and is supposed to fake a handoff, but he doesn't get close enough to the back to fake anybody, the defender doesn't bite, and Jake goes down in a Heap.



Cutler not only has the sacks, but he has taken hits as he is throwing or is throwing with people hanging onto him. Jake has not had pressure anything like that. He really has not. Blue - get out your stop watch again, and count how many times Jake could have held the ball another half second or longer than he held it before throwing. He has more time to throw than he is taking.
