Sorry, I think the black socks look really dumb. I thought they were ankle braces when I first saw them.
I come from the Jerry Rice school of thought. You dress for success. If you look sloppy, you play sloppy. If you look sharp, you play sharp. So, I don't like the gray shirts either.
If you don't have an eye for detail, the first place it shows is in how you look, then it shows in your game plan. It is a bad omen to not look good when you walk on the field. I knew we were in trouble in Texas when the Cougars came out in all whites. You don't wear all white when the team you are playing is wearing mostly white. As long as the team is sloppily dressed it tells me that other details have been missed as well.
Besides, black may work with powder blue or light royal but it doesn't work with navy.
Speaking of blue, why can't they get the blue right. The royal they used two years ago was way lighter than the royal of old. The problem with navy is that unless you have perfect lighting it looks black. If we are going to be about exposure, then let's do it right. Win games and do it looking sharp on ESPN.
Look sloppy = play sloppy. Look sharp = We are considering every detail to be sharp and play sharp and it shows. That is why the pros look the way they do.
