Sign of Big 12 Stability

This article on ESPN indicates that the remaining Big 12 presidents have agreed to grant their school's TV rights to the Big 12 for six years. That means if a school left the conference that the Big 12 would receive the revenue from any home games played by that school on ESPN and Fox while they are in their new conference. Basically no conference should be willing to touch any of these schools until the six years has past. However, the article didn't get a confirmation from Missouri that they would sign the deal. Texas A&M obviously won't be signing it.



The current TV contract for the Big 12 expires in 5 years so this agreement would help keep the league together even after the current TV deal is expired. If this agreement gets signed it should give BYU some assurance that OU and Texas are sticking around. As long as the league doesn't totally implode and cease to exist it sounds like there should 6 years with no movement.

Some schools have agreed, some haven't. Still a bit of a gray area.
