Self Scouting/Half Time Adjustments

I believe Bronco's favorite activity on bye weeks is to self scout the team. Instead of scouting your own team only on bye weeks, shouldn't he be doing this during the game? Doesn't a good coach look at the first half of the game and analyze what your team was doing well and then anticipate what the opponent will do to take it way. Then have a plan in place to address the adjustments made by the opponent so that your team continues to have success in the second half? It almost seems like our coaches are only looking at what the opponent did the first half and try to make adjustments to capitalize on what happened in the first half. But when the opponent implements their adjustments we look lost on offense and defense in the second half.

In theory if the opponent is going to adjust to what you did, doesn't it make sense that you should have adjusted your strategy as well which hopefully throws off what they were adjusting to?...

Bronco might, but only for the defense. He doesn't have any responsibilities for the offense.

It all comes down to the stupidest word ever used, which is quite overused by coaches and fans alike, "execution." Makes me want to punt kittens! Bronco is so overconfident that if his team just runs any strategy that it will succeed no matter what the other team is doing. How about we gameplan throughout the game to "exploit" (hey a new term they could use) the opposition.

This is precisely why half-time adjustments are a foreign concept to BYU football. No other team we have played believes in execution trumping all. They do whatever it takes (changing QB's, focusing on running, etc.) to win.
