Why I think we win tomorrow:

I think that 2011 season has many parallels to 2010 - but the wheels came off earlier in 2011. I look at the UCF game just like the SDSU game last year. A game against a reasonably good opponent, at home, who we are rightfully concerned about. O is sputtering, D gave up a bunch of points to an inferior in-state opponent the week before, and a tough, athletic team coming to town. Just like 2010.



And this is the game where BYU starts to turn the season around - a full 2 games earlier than in 2010.

I think we win because we are better than we have played. I think things start to look more cohesive. I expect out rempo to improve on O, and we begin to look better on O as well. We will run it better for sure. And more.

I think we win. 31-6



But I will say this 2011 will be 2010 repeated or 2007 repeated. I think from here on out we get into a groove and gel big time a la 2007. A loss to UCF means 2010 repeated, only worse because most our games are on ESPn and we are supposed to be a year better.

I expect us to win because Bronco has emphasized the need for improved tempo on the offense including minimizing turnovers, run blocking, picking up positive yardage on carries, converting points in the red and blue zone, solid execution, and portraying who we are as a team on ESPN. the loss weighed heavily on him and his family, and it was a bitter pill to swallow in getting blown out by the Yewts. He was expecting a typical rivalry game down to the wire. Because he took the blame for not having the team prepared, I believe he will not expect anythin less than major I

Improvements on all aspects of the line. Team players also had a meeting on Monday, shared their feelings and disappointments about the loss and regained their focus. I see a close game that again is won in the trenches on both sides.

After speaking with a team member, I can tell you I believe there is a determination that is coming to the surface. These guys were shell-shocked last week ... but it seems they all did some soul searching and have found a strength and determination that will come out. These guys were embarrassed and angry ... and they all know they are a better team that what they showed. Practices have been good (I'm told), and they are hungry to correct last week's problems.



Bronco has traditionally bounced back ... this team's heart is what people question right now. I think they have the heart (and the coaches (I believe) were each given specifics for improvement).



Besides, I understand they have had some inspirational meetings this week, and at least one speaker who really got their attention

Would love to hear more about team meetings and inspirational speaker. The interview with JJ indicated the meetings went well and recommitted the team to go forward and play to their capability.

I am not all that shaken by the Utah loss...it is kind of a fluke or aberration. To me, when the offense "clicks," then I think it is really going to take off. I guess I could be saying that all season before every game. :(



Nevertheless, in a Jake Heaps toughens up and throws for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, and we finally rush for over 75 yards, BYU wins 31-17

The speaker that I was most excited to hear about (and I hear really inspired the team) was President Uchtdorf. I don't know exactly what he said, but the report is that the team understands that it is important that they play well, and much is expected of them. (I asked the player who told me about it whether it is OK to disclose this speaker, and he said was ... that's why I did it now and not before ... didn't have the OK earlier)

The problem with a "fluke" game is that we have now lost to Utah two years in a row because of a "fluke". I'm not buying it. All we heard all off season is that last year's loss was a fluke. This team wasn't prepared or ready for the first three games, which really is a pattern by Bronco.



How many "wake-up" calls do we need before we realize that the alarm should be going on when we need to get up, not when we are an hour late for work.



I have no faith in this team. None. Hope I am wrong.

you have said this every week. I am less optimistic.

Every week someone says "I think Heaps/BYU will turn it around." Unless Pres. Monson is the source I'm not buying it. This is still a 1 TD/game team and nothing leads me to believe that will change. I wish we could break it open vs UCF because it'd be a good national win, but man this offense just sucks.

I am wondering if we have a problem evaluating talent and Utah is much better at it than we are. I don't know.

It's possible, but Texas thought highly enough of Apo to offer him a scholarship, and Kaveinga and Fangupo were good enough to play at USC, and Heap had all kinds of accolades coming out of High School, so that leads me to believe we have some legitimate talent. That leads me to blame the coaching.



As for the OP. I think we'll win tomorrow because I always think we'll win :crazy:
