UNLV selling out to stop Harvey & thoughts on the game

It looks to me like UNLV is selling out to stop Harvey. Having linebackers follow him no matter the play. I think this could clear up the middle of the field for the TEs to have a big day. The question is, does BYU try to take advantage of this?

That interception by Jordan Pendelton has to be one of the most beautiful interceptions, athletic plays I've ever seen!

UNLV is selling out against Harvey, but it didn't do them any good. Harvey beat the first LB and then the whole field was wide open for his 33 yard touchdown run.



Also BYU's kickoffs have been magnificent so far this game.

Hall to Pitta for a beautiful 30 yard or more pass, it was a thing of beauty. Pitta is just so good at getting inside his man. And then Harvey Unga walks into the corner of the endzone.



Also, one of the best parts of this game? I have KSL radio on, and it is synced PERFECTLY with the TV broadcast. Hooray!

And the first negative on the Cougar squad. They completely left the middle of the field open on the kickoff, allowing a return for a TD. It was also the first kickoff not to make it to the endzone this game.

And Harvey gets his 3rd score because the LB that is shadowing him can't tackle him. This run went what, 52 yards? He's already over 100 yards for the game.

Scotty Johnson just made a very nice pick. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

And while I'm gushing about Harvey here, how about Manase Tonga? The guy is a bull dozer out there, blowing away the UNLV defenders.

Hall just nicely faked the screen pass and found Pitta completely wide open down the field. Pitta then made the secondary look foolish and practically walked in to the endzone. Man he is that good.

Great series for J.J. he's a family favorite in our home. So it's great to see him get some nice runs and catches on this drive.

Oh man, 2 yards away from Chambers getting his kickoff return for a touchdown! So close man, keep it coming.

just watched diluigi stop on a dime twice and pick up the first down!!

does UNLV throw in the towel and call the rest of the game off after this next score?

I realize it is only UNLV, but I feel like the offense really opened up today.. Turned the page in the playbook and added a few wrinkles..

I enjoyed tonight's game... I questioned before (as some of you may have seen on cougarblue) whether or no Unga had the breakaway speed to "take it the distance," and he did that on a couple different plays tonight.

I thought of that when he broke his 33 yard TD run. And then again when he went for over 50.

Here I thought (a) UNR got a lot of rushing because UNLV couldn't handle the pistol, and (b) BYU would have less success because they are more traditional and UNLV would make stopping the run a point of emphasis.



Boy, was I wrong. UNLV's secondary was never in position to stop the run at the third level, and UNLV's linebackers were constantly over-pursuing on the run, leaving cutbacks open all night long. Sanpete High School would have rushed for 150 on that defense.



Sanford is toast. Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy if you ask me.

I never knew Harvey could be that fast. I know he's still not a burner, but anytime your running back can slow down his stride for an easy touchdown twice a game is impressive.

That grab by Pendleton was AWSOME. Too bad the Sam Boyd Stadium announcer never gave him credit...he credited Denney with the interception on the play....and man, that was a STUPID throw by their QB...if your gonna throw it away, throw it WAY away.
