Robert Anae anyone?

Is there any need to say more. Robert Anae's offense never looked this bad. 5 freaking turnovers. Brandon Doman has this offense thinking too much and not executing. He needs to do something drastic this week to get this team's mind right. This looks worse then Crowton's worst years where we moved the ball all over the place but turned it over all the time. It is a result of complete lack of concentration.

imho the biggest problem is our OLINE, giving Heaps almost NO TIME, EVER, look at Utah, Wynn has basically 8 years to find someone open.

Also our Oline started out the game well for us.

Well so much for a good impression our first year as an independent. Argh. I hate how we have the weapons, but are still damn anemic.

The oline is a result of the plays that are called. Missed blocks, bad snaps. The Running backs are not picking up the blitz, this is a result of bad coaching. Who is the Ocoordinator? Brandon Doman. Anae's offense may have been predictable and boring but at least it was fundamentally sound. This offense looks horrible. I am a HUGE Brandon Doman fan but who else is to blame? Heaps looked 10 times better in last years game then he does in this one. 5 FREAKING TURNOVERS.

Sorry, good QBs know how to make time. Even when Heaps has had heaps of time, he's not been very accurate.

Good QB's know how to make time? Sure, good qb's can create extra time occasionally when they need it. But you cannot expect any qb to be generating the time necessary for the play to develop EVERY SINGLE PASS PLAY. Wynn had all day--ALL DAY--to make plays and even he with his crippled arm was able to pick BYU's D apart through the air. If Heaps had that kind of time, given the speed of the receivers, our offense would be very different. Granted, the O-Line is only one of various problems on offense, but I think they are the foundational problem. And its scary to think that much of their ineptitude is masked because we throw so many slant and short routes. The only time Jake seems to have time to throw the deep ball is if he rolls into a bootleg or somehow manages to shed a tackle or two.

And do we even have to point out their inability to open holes for the rushing game?

No he wouldn't. On the few occasions Heaps had significant time Heaps squandered the time by either sailing the ball completely over his intended target or opting to throw to the flats.

Is the O-line playing poorly? Yes. No run game is primarily on their shoulders. Missed blitzes is on them. Bad snaps is on them. But throwing balls 5 feet above receivers, down at their ankles or at the receiver's back is on Heaps.

I wasn't a fan of Anae, but my take on the whole thing was BYU should only replace him if they could get someone better. BYU wants to compete on a national level, therefore it takes some serious talent in the coaching department.

Doman may be able to relate well with the players, laugh it up with them and be their best bud, but he's making out to be a horrible OC.

Seriously, if things don't turn around drastically for the guy, I'd start looking for a new OC at the end of the season if I were Bronco. A poor offense makes Bronco look bad and could cut his own contract short. Doman is in over his head.

Interesting thought I offer up for fans to ponder. Norm Chow and Robert Anae were not usually popular with players, fans, media, and even some other coaches. Maybe that is the mark of a good OC. Maybe you can't afford to be everyone's best friend.

Doman might be fine in time. He is a rookie. This could have been predicted. We would be better off with Chow or Anae right now while Doman continued to develop as an excellent QB coach.

Breaking in a rookie OC with a near rookie QB, and no dominant RB, us not smart and especially with the early schedule BYU has. That is on Bronco.

Yes, but how many more debacles does Doman get (right or wrong) before his seat gets really really hot. I'm all in favor of giving him time to grow into the OC role but not at the the price BYU fans paid by watching that clusterf&*@ last night.
