With all the good that Kehl, Nixon, Poppinga, and So'oto are doing for BYU linebackers reputation in the NFL, no NFL team will draft a BYU linebacker after his junior year high enough to make him want to leave early.

Did nixon sign with a new team? Last I heard he was cut when teams went to their final rosters

KVN is a freak and will be rated really high after next year. He could go if he wanted to. But if BYU looks to be really good in 2013, I bet he would stick around.

My friend, not a BYU fan, texted me last week before the Texas game saying that someone on ESPN said that Van Noy is a first rounder. I don't know who said that, though.

I'd put money on that, if I had any money to put on that and was morally okay with putting money on that.

Technically, Van Noy could declare for the draft after this year...not that he will. But he could.

I had been thinking of posting on this topic. For Heaps to have big pressure to leave after his Junior year, he realistically will need to get on the NFL and Heisman radar screens by the end of this year. I am nit saying he needs to be a Heisman finalist. They just need to start talking about him this year as a contender for next year.



Heaps has an NFL arm. No doubt. Having said that, he is a bit small as NFL QBs go and it is not clear how fast he can run. I am not saying he is as slow as John Walsh, but that liability for him didn't drop him like a rock until after he declared.



NFL does not expect every QB to run like a RB, but they do expect them to be able to run a QB sneak or draw, scramble out of trouble, or take off downfield on a broken play. They also expect them to be able to take a hit and show durability. Heaps needs to show these dimensions this year vs good competition to be on any radar for 2012.

I agree about Jake. He entered BYU believing all the hype - living in "La-la" land. He's come down to earth. He will be good. No way he jumps to the NFL after his Junior year. Jake's a work in progress.



As for Kyle Van Noy - he could possibly go (I think they would convert him to Safety with his speed & he would kill it!). But, I think he stays @ BYU because Bronco was so loyal & patient to KVN - I believe KVN will respond in kind & be loyal to Bronco & BYU. I feel Kyle will stay all 4 years.



Thank heaven KVN is playing for BYU. He is a speedy beast! 8)

KVN will not be a safety. He does not like to hit hard like Andrew Rich would. He can hit, but he is more of a speed and finesse OLB. A specimen to be sure, but Im not sure he likes hard contact after watching him for 2 years--unless he's hitting a qb. :evil:
