It Does Not Feel the Same

I am going contrary to the similar post. Let's first establish clarity. Both posts are talking about the offense - not the defense. I do not think anyone thinks this defense feels the same as the one that started the 2010 season. If anything, it is better than the one that ended last season.



For me, the offense does not feel the same either. It is quite definitely better. Ignore the UW game. That may have seemed similar to Ole Miss. But it was in Provo and not in Mississippi. Dropped passes - huge improvement. Jake Heaps worst throws this year are better than his typical throws in early 2010. Jake played so poorly in 2010, I could not see any potential. This year I have seen 4 quarters of it. Wish I had seen 8, but he is better. Team is more united. Receivers are more athletic. Tight ends are better. The rest is about the same. Running is a bit worse - healthy juice and Kariya may be enough to get back. It is different and mostly better.

Better than beginning of last year? Sure. But beginning of last year reminded me of 02 - 04. So how big of a deal is it if the O is better than the beginning of last year?



But I like most fans are comparing the O to the END of last year, when it was firing on all cylinders. And we returned almost all starters and added at least one more huge weapon. Because of this, we all bought into the hype and were expecting an explosive offense. After two touchdowns in two games, we are rightfully disappointed.

my post was jjusy trsponding to the post claiming this year feels just like last year. Obviously last year finished on a more positive note than the first half of the season. But as to starting as strong as we finished last year - I guess Saturday Vs Utah compared to last year vs Utah would be the best measure we are gong to get for a while. We finished last year eating cupcakes, except for the Utah game and TCU game. Utah D this year equals Utah D last year. I expect us to pick up where we left off last year and struggle to score touchdowns. We shoud have won last year. This year, I think we will.

Aside from looking at what a roster might say, I want proof that we actually have WR's on this team...at least last year we got to watch them drop passes. This season I truly don't believe they exist...help thou mine unbelief.

Unless we think this is because we lost Luke Ashworth or Chambers, this has to lie at the feet of Doman, Cahoon, Heaps, or strength of schedule. We have everyone else back plus Apo. Where do you think fault lies.

I actually think as far as catching the ball the receivers have improved. I think Jacobson may have only missed one pass this season and it was a poor pass. Same goes for Hoffman and Apo. The accuracy isn't there while at the same time the receivers may have trouble getting open, though its hard to tell since I'm watching the games on TV. I blame play calling on WRs not getting open mixed in with a bit of solid defense from opponents, but a good OC should be able to come up with some plays that will get his WRs open against a "superior" secondary.

When you say "all"...do you mean "both" of them?

Despite what you may think I am not knocking the WR's at all. They have not been utilized or called upon in the offense, and why that is is a huge mystery to all of us. Why timing patterns and quick outs aren't run is beyond me and I just want to see us actually go to our talent on a regular basis the rest of this season.
