He had at least 5 missed tackles against Texas and is the weakest link on our defense. I wonder if he cuts Bronco's hair...

:roll: Everyone had 5 missed tackles in that second half. I don't know why we're expecting the defense to hold teams to less than high teens. As a unit they've been amazing.



The defense, and all members of it, are not the problem.

I know the defense and the secondary got exceptionally better after Bronco took over last year. But if you guys think uale is bad, go look at Steven Thomas who he replaced. He was terrible. Uale is pretty good. He's just got to work on staying in position, I think that is why he's always late on balls over the top. I think if he works on his "position mastery" he'll be fine. Hague may be more athletic (might be) but uale is bigger and has a year experience under his belt. I feel more comfortable with him than an unproven guy in Hague

You are both right - Uale is much better than Steven Thomas...and he's also the weakest link in the D. That said, he has had his moments - both good and bad.

Uale is a Jekyl and Hyde no doubt. He had the instincts to get behind the line and drop a guy for a loss 2x vs TX but missed those tackles and allowed the RB to make sizable gains that killed our defensive momentum. If he's the best we have then we'll just have to deal with it.

Not everyone missed 5 tackles in the second half. I call straw mans.



If he is the best we have, then he is the best we have... He needs to learn to tackle, and not get baited on trickery (ie: position management)



Here's a pro tip: You can't tackle someone with your shoulder. That is called a hit. A tackle is when you use both arms to wrap around the defender, slowing his momentum until he stops. When you are in the open field, tackling is best.



I've never heard the term "open field hit". Probably because they never happen.
