Freshman OC

Freshman WR coach. Sophomore QB. The #1 receiving target is a freshman. The #2 receiving target is a sophomore. The 97 tight ends we have on the roster are all sophomores.



No rational human being would expect the passing game to flourish against a progam that over the last 5 years has had more defensive backs drafted (7) to BYU's TOTAL players drafted (5).



Of course our offense has struggled. It will struggle this week too. We need to remember that the changes that were made in the offseason will take a few games before things start to flourish.

I don't buy the freshman/sophomore excuse for Heaps and the TEs. They played a lot last year. They are more experienced than most other sophs. And our top 2 WRs have been on the system for 2 years.

But M. Hall had part of a mission under his belt so he was obviously more mature and could grow a beard.

The #1 receiving target is a red-shirt senior. JJ Di Luigi has been targeted 15 times (about 1/5 of all attempts).

and don't forget that he has dropped about as much as you should expect in a season but after only 2 games.

Hall had Collie, Pitta, and an experienced OC not to mention a much better running back behind him. I agree that Hall's first two games as a sophomore was better than Heaps' first two games, but Hall was placed in a much better situation.

Comparision to Beck's sophomore year are probably closer to reality.

Hall had Collie, Pitta, and an experienced OC not to mention a much better running back behind him. I agree that Hall's first two games as a sophomore was better than Heaps' first two games, but Hall was placed in a much better situation.

Who were all either sophs or freshman.

Apples and oranges. 2004 was truly a dark, dark year with literally no defense. I was there.

Yeah, how many times did Hall get hit from behind and cough up the ball? Seems like at least once a game back in those early days, but I could be exaggerating a little, but not much.

Yes, but Hall moved the ball pretty well against stingy Arizona and UCLA defenses. In his first two starts, Hall led the BYU offense on 5 TD drives (4 TD passes)--3 against Arizona and 2 at UCLA. BYU's offense has 2 TDs through two games this year.



Though you could say Hall had more non-game college experience having been a freshman at ASU and redshirting a year at BYU, I would think that Heaps' playing experience last year would have helped him prepare for this year.
