Here are the RERs for the Texas game:

Di Luigi: 43.09

Kariya: 158.80

Apo: 127.67

Jacobson: 73.80

Hoffman: 73.10

Falslev: 45.80

Holt: 272.20

Wilson: 97.47

Alisa: 71.00

Matthews: 120.48

Heaps has now played in essentially 14 games. He has had a PER above 110 in just six of them. He has complete 60% of his passes in just five of them.

Through two games, BYU has just four plays of more than 20 yards. They now have eight three-and-out drives.

BYU's PER: 98.49

Tex's PER: 91.66

Tex PER (without Gilbert): 163.83

(edited to show UT PER sans Gilbert)

ugh. Don't remind us.

Don't worry guys. He has a lot of potential...

Reminds me so much of Trent Plaisted and the mythical 40" vertical.

What's the statistical significance of RER anyways?
S
SpiffCoug
There is no statistical significance of the RER. At least no real correlation to winning/scoring like there is with PER.

It's more of just an interesting, which receivers are being effective and which aren't.

Heaps has to be near the bottom of BYU QBs in those categories when compared to QBs with that many appearences since the beginning of the LaVell era. He's also not looking good in the category that matters most--win/loss percentage. If we don't want to use the word 'suck', then mediocre certainly applies.

What is USU's true freshman Keaton's PER so far this year?

Ugggggghhhh! Discouraging. There has to be answers.
C
Cougs_Rule
yep there's answers. lets run Riley in and out like we have no fricken idea how to accomplish that and which play to run and when. I wonder which part of the "we're ready early lets cancel practice" playbook that comes out of.

I can imagine Franchuck coming in about now to explain how USU QB is surrounded by more talent to make plays since the lack of same was how he explained Heaps poor performance.

Passer Efficiency Ranking (of 116):

19. Keenum - Houston - 173.2

20. Luck - Stanford - 173.2

21. Robinson - Michigan - 172.5

24. Moore - BSU - 170.1

30. Pachall - TCU - 158.1

34. Keeton - USU - 154.7

40. Rees - ND - 151.8

91. Wynne - Utah - 110.7

96. Heaps - BYU - 107.7

The good news is that of BYU's remaining opponents, by my count only two (TCU and USU) have QBs ranked in the top 40 for PER through the first 2 games. UCF and NMSU's QBs are in the 40s.

Whats Keeton;s with USU? Maybe its not as high bc he also is so effective bc he can run the ball.
