I Pledge Allegiance

Losses are tough, no matter who or when. But regardless of perceived reasons, finger pointing, or tossing blame around, I pledge my allegiance to the the Cougars of Brigham Young University. They are my team, win or lose. I feel honored to be associated with them. In a few hours I will go to Sac Mtg and will listen to all the Puke fans telling me how much we suck. And I will stand strong and proud and as blue as ever. I love these guys. They represent so much more than points on a board.



A number of years ago, when our basketball team was 1 - 26, I sat in a meeting of our Bishopric with our Stake President. the Stake President looked at my notebook with all my BYU stuff written on it and asked, "How can you carry that around with you?" I simply replied, "How can I not? This is more than just a team. It is what I am." And if we never score another point the rest of my life, I will still wear the colors, I will still preach the doctrine, and I will still be proud and grateful for my association with a university and a team that represents and reflects my personal values.



Paint a blue and white bulls-eye on my back. They are what I am and, win or lose, I stand proud to represent them in all circumstances, at all times, until I pass from this frail mortal existence!

I am a Real Cougar, and while I am happier with a W, I love our teams. I'm disappointed, but I think we will still have a fun season.

I totally agree with both of you. Even when we lost to USU last year, I still watched every game for the whole year. I knew that the team had problems, but I still supported my team.

So did all real fans, even the ones that complain after losses.



That's great if you think the team is perfect and you're on cloud 9 but I don't see why it's so unreasonable to make some assessments after a loss though, or in last weeks case, after a win. Like I said elsewhere, BYU has very loyal fans. Are they picky? sure, but mostly it's because they care a lot about the program and the program looks good when it's winning. Nothing wrong with some assessment.

Topics like this are for fans who think there better than other for not questioning the bad play. Then they make some vow of allegiance as if the rest of us are not as commited to the team as they are. The worst part is I allowed myself to get suckered into reading and then replying to this topic.

There's a BIG difference between analyzing the game and blowing a gasket...we've had some of both, IMHO, on board here the last two days
