Texas game will come down to match ups

Of course it will. Every football game comes down to match ups. The entire game is once big match up.

It is going to come down to the Texas QB. He is either going ot play like a 5* recruit or high 4* that he was out of high school - or continue to make mistakes. He has an arm. He can run a bit. He gets flustered and makes mistakes. I read that 5 of his interceptions bounced off the hands of his receivers and got intercepted. He was splaying against very good teams. He probably does not suck. But rattle him. Get in his face. Knock him down.



He will win or lose this game for Texas. I suppose a freshman RB or WR could fumble a few and lose it for them too.



LIkewise Jake Heaps and BYU DBs. We are going to come hard after the Texas QB. You better believe they are going to send some heat after ours. Their front 7 is going to be very good - like ours. Our O/L may be better than theirs.

Matt Reynolds will contain those guys. He dominated the 2 Ole Miss ends last week, I think gave up 1 sack all year last season, and it was just after he hurt his ankle vs. FSU, before he exited the game.



Two main keys for me are:



1) Our interior Line vs their DTs/ILB

2)Jake's ability to read their D vs. their ability to disguise blitzes. Ole Miss had a corner blitz work and that means the QB did not read it, and the other blitz sack resulted in a lucky non-fumble.



If our O line gets it done, and Jake is comfortable with his reads, I think we have great success. But if they can successfully blitz us, we may struggle.



Still think a low scoring game is in the works.

Read this. I know many of you do not respect Dick Harmon - I do. Maybe it is becasue he sounds like he has been reading my posts. Elsewhere I posted that this will come down to the Quarterbacks in Texas Vs BYU. Dick essentially says that if Jake lifts all boats, BYU wins. He even gives a PER target for Heaps to ensure the win.



Speaking of Wynns. He lays the Utes chances squarely on Jordan Wynn. You should all be able to quickly get over the fact that Wynn has a much more repsectable PER after one game than does Heaps - there was a difference in the level of competition week 1.



Dick predicts a 1-point Ute loss and a 3-point BYU loss. So I gues he thinks both will surprise the experts and cover the spread.

Obviously the Texas Boyz watched Ole Miss game film. They saw how the blitz packages got to Jake. I expect lots of different looking blitzes today. The heat is coming. In my mind - the game hinges on our O Line handling those blitz packages & Jake being able to get the ball off under pressure - effectively. It's going to be a very interesting game.



BYU vs Texas, I call it a toss up. No cop out here. I really don't know.
