Funny and concerning stories on Ogletree

Defensive lineman Hebron Fangupo said Ole Miss' linemen were asking him if Ogletree is always that angry.

Lets hope BO passes the protocol. NOt that he needs extra motivation, but playing v UT in his home state has got to be special. Maybe he'll be more cheerful. ;-)

My cousin is a team doctor and we talked to him after the Ole Miss game. Tree was pretty loopy and in a fog, and was acting pretty silly. BYU had a good eye on him, though. If you were at the game, you could see Tree bouncing around all over the place on teh sidelines after he was out, especially after that TD was scored.



Dude is a warrior, so I hope he is able to pass his medicals for the Texas game. As he is a native Texan, I know he will be crazy up for this game if he can go, and we need that spirit on teh field.

Had a roommate who got his bell rung pretty good playing football in the park one Saturday, and it wasn't until late Sunday that he got his short-term memory back. It was funny for a while, but eventually it got taxing answering the same questions over and over and over and over and over. We eventually put an assortment of random items in his shirt pocket (highlighter, foreign coins, lego figurine, etc.) and he spent the rest of the weekend sitting on the couch fascinated with everything he kept finding in his pocket--he'd pull out the highlighter, wonder about it, put it back, find the coin, pull it out, ponder how it got there, put it back, find the lego man......and by the time he got through everything, he'd forgotten the earlier items, so he'd just keep looping through the same five items.



I don't think Ogletree is that bad, but it's pretty scary for the guy who can't remember what happened two minutes ago and everyone is looking at him like he has corn growing out of his ears.

Okay. I'm sorry. There are people whose names you just don't abbreviate for obvious reasons:

Bronco Mendenhall = BM

Brandon Ogletree = BO

Jimmer = why would you abbreviate Jimmer?!



That is all.

I suffered a concussion doing an aerial into Lake Powell 2 weeks ago. My friends said I kept asking the same questions over and over every couple of minutes just like described as above with Ogletree. There were about 30 minutes of my life after I hit the water that I have no memory of whatsoever---I was apparently completely conscious but I don't remember ANY of it.



The good news is I still went and rode a jet ski at 60+ miles an hour and went cliff jumping again later that day (despite feeling a bit foggy and having a headache).



Long story short, within less than 48 hours, I felt NO ill effects. Brandon's concussion is described almost identically to what I went through which should bode well.

Concussions are scary stuff. Hope he's completely in the clear if he plays on Saturday.

I think he got a little more than just his bell rung, he was out cold from the second he hit the Ole Miss player.

I forgot to add that I blacked out for a bit when I hit the water. And yes, jonnylingo, I am *kind of* an idiot sometimes.

LOL I agree but if you do abbreviate them is that another way of saying your s#&t doesn't stink? That BTW would 100% correct in this case!

Have officially had about 4 concussions in my life, a couple I got knocked pretty hard and one I ended up unconscious. (Let's just say it's not fun as a 12 year old to have a baseball bat in full swing hit you in the side of the head) Doctors and my parents and other members of my family have always told me that it's not good to get one concussion let alone multiple ones. I never really have felt like they've been that big of a deal, not really any noticeable short term effects), Until now where I've been going to college for over 4 years on and off and no where close to being done. I feel like as the older I get the more it starts to have an effect on my memory, and I'm only going to be 24 years old this year. Time to stop playing unpadded tackle football I guess....

JIMMER abbreviates to TBOTB (The Bestest Of The Bestest),

Played Semi pro ball, never had a concussion in high school or college ball. Got a little older and they happened...Played an entire game with one and didn't realize it..some on the team thought I had one, wasn't sure.



It wasn't until we were at dinner when I kind of came out of the fog so to speak and started asking if we won or not. My team mates were like, your kidding right? You just played one heck of a game..and I didn't remember..still dont...I remember one hit, the one that caused the concussion, that is it.



After 4 of them in a 2 years span, I decided to hang up the cleats. At the age of 36, I do feel they have affected me now. My absent mindedness is at an all time high now.

Concussions are serious things and as more studies are done on them the more scary side effects are found. Had a minor one high school I got while playing basketball. Fortunately, I didn't get knocked out and didn't lose any memory. Just triggered a major migraine and I couldn't sleep for the life of me the next night.



As much as I would love for Tree to play Sat I think it best he sit out. Football is worth only so much.

Agreed. Coach Mendenhall = CM or Bronco and Brandon Ogletree = Tree
