KVN named Indy PoW!?

So KVN was just named the independent defensive player of the week.

The honors were awarded based on votes made by media members that cover the four independent institutions (Army, BYU, Navy and Notre Dame).

I thought we were done with PoW now that we've gone indy but apparently not. With only three other teams to compete against there's not much point (not that there was much point before, but still).



Is this a construct of the BYU AD's office? Does anyone know where this came from?



I would have preferred to just be independent especially since this is clearly a new entity this year, which I can only interpret as a sign that BYU is behind it.

national voters with equal representation from each of the four teams' markets according to the article I read. So Van Noy beat out our local Hawaii boy Teo. SWEET! TEO went to ND for exposure and Van Noy found it in Provo.



Teo will show up on this award eventually unless Van Noy, Pendleton, Fuga, or others win it every week because Navy and Army aren't gonig to win this one very often.

Isn't this award a national award, not specific to indepedent players?
