Nerves, injury, or fashion statement?

Heaps wore a long white sleeve on his throwing arm but sported a bare left arm. Michael Jackson 1-glove type fashion statement or something to keep the arm warm in an already hot humid situation? Support hose for an injury? Superstition?



I didn't notice this at first, but eventually noticed that while getting set Heaps kept shaking his non-throwing arm as though to loosen it or as if it lacked feeling. He would clench and unclench his left fist while doing so. Nervous habit? Injury?

A lot of players have done this the last several years. I don't think it's anything more than a comfort/fashion thing.

Some people think the sleeves help blood circulation and help muscles contract more quickly. At least that's why D-Wade wears them on his legs and LeBron on his arms.



For me it's like those copper (or now "mystery metals") bracelets. If you think it helps, who am I to interfere with your placebo effects?

Thanks. DId you notice him shaking out his left arm and clenching and unclenching his fist? I don't recall if that arm or shoulder took a hard hit when he got sacked. I wondered if he was injured.

Heaps did the one sleeve thing last season as well. Not in every game, but he had one in the bowl game among other games.

Heaps needs to do more curls. I'm pretty sure he is the only person pictured wearing a sleeve that appears baggy...

Does anyone have any thoughts or inside knowledge about his left arm? That was the main point of this question. Is he injured. It sounds like his right arm is fine. The left arm appeared to have a problem unless that is just a normal nervous habit we have seen before. Anyway- I hope he is 100% ok.

I bet it's to look tough (he did it in the Utah game as well), and for no real reason. I asked Trent Plaisted why he wore a calf sleeve. He said for no reason.

I wore calve sleeves to help prevent shin splints...
