Did Beck win the starting job?

Shanahan had said that he was going to play his starters in last nights preseason game to give them more work. He started Beck and did not play Grossman. When I heard that I assumed that meant that Beck won the job. Now it is reported that the Redskins sat a lot of their starters. Does that mean that Grossman sat because he is the starter?

Beck didn't really play that well. He was something like 10 for 21 with a pick. It's really unfortunate because I would love to see him succeed in the NFL. Who knows, maybe he will still get a chance.

The question is how much of Beck struggling is due to the fact that the other starters were sitting? Moss and Jaffney didn't play. I don't know whether or not the o-line starters were in. The few highlights I saw showed Beck getting hit as he threw the ball, one of which was intercepted in the end zone.

Tim Hightower was also sitting (I'm betting on him as the starting RB). It would seem that the game last night was not designed as a chance for Beck to win the starting job--they sat so many of their starters. I would be shocked if Beck didn't start the season at QB and I think last night was just another chance for him to get live reps. (At least that's what I'm hoping :))
