BYU Official Statement coming later today

So says AJeffreyCall on twitter.



I wonder what it will say.

Well...if it was accepting a Big 12 invite...they would call a press conference.



Because its a "statement"...I'm assuming it's not good news for BYU going to the Big 12.

I posted something at the same time... well.. technically a minute later... You can delete that one or combine it.. or lock it.. or whatever...

I'm expecting it to say something like "BYU is happy with Independence but will always have an eye on the ever changing landscape of college football."

I suspect the statement will be that a press conference will be tomorrow with no other details.

My guess is that you don't announce you are going to make a statement later in the day just to make the statement that you will make a statement the next day.



My guess is it's a "stay pat" statement. If it was "we're in," the Big XII would've announced the invite by now.

I can't imagine a scenario in which BYU would depart from independence before even giving it an honest try. I think BYU independence is here to stay, whether the Big-12, Pac-12 or anybody else invites us. And to be honest, I think independence for BYU will work better than it does for ND, Army or Navy.

No way it works better than ND. We are not ND, never will be. Look at their schedule and annual games and rivalries, look at ours. Look at their TV deal, look at ours. Look at their BCS options--look at ours. We in no way compare.

Most of what I am hearing today is we stay Indy.



If that is true, I honestly do not know how to take the news. But if it is true, I will want more than a statement, and will feel like as a BYU fan who supports BYU athletics financially, we all deserve more than a statement.

Last you said was that your connections were saying that BYU was going to the Big 12. What suddenly changed?

They are going to announce 2 for 1 specials of cougartails!

The Salt Lake Tribune just posted an article on their website that states BYU will issue a statement later today regarding the B12.

If byu stays indy I will be very upset. As a fan I deserve better home games than idaho st and new mexico st. how could you pass up the chance to join a bcs conf.i

Let me clarify--most of the rumors I am hearing lately are saying we stay Indy. And my sources never said we go Big XII 100%, just that BYU was talking with them, and they expected to accept. Not been told that we did accept.



I know I will be crushed if we do not accept. I will be upset on a personal level.

I'll be relieved that BYU still has their integrity.
