Some Questions I Have

I honestly have no idea what is going to happen and I don't think that anybody on this planet knows with 100% accuracy what is going to happen. I haven't been able to pay attention too much to this whole mess so I do have a few questions and forgive me if these have been addressed elsewhere.

Texas A&M University today officially notified the Big 12 Conference that the institution will submit an application to join another athletic conference. Should this application be accepted, Texas A&M will end its membership in the Big 12 Conference effective June 30, 2012.

Question: As of this moment is Texas A&M a member of the Big 12? Maybe I'm just stupid but that paragraph above makes it sound like they are but they aren't.

Question: I have heard that the Big 12 must replace Texas A&M in order to keep it's tv contract, is that true? If it is true then is there a deadline for that to happen by? If there is when is that deadline? Is there anything in place that forces the Big 12 to replace A&M sooner rather than later?

If there is something in the TV contract that says the big 12 must have at least ten teams than something needs to be announced before the start of this current football season. If the big 12 is going to invite a team from a current conference the announcement would have to happen pretty quick. Most conferences will have an out clause that should be at least one year.



That is what makes BYU an interesting option because of no conference affiliation in reality they could announce BYU next summer to begin play on 2012.

They have to replace them before they leave in June. Yes the tv contract can be renegotiated if they drop below 10 teams.
