DarthMagnusFollowing Oregon's lead, schools across the country are embracing multiple uniforms and edgier designs (see http://goo.gl/Y4Hc0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
So, how many of you like this trend that appears to be starting? Would you like to see BYU embrace something similar? Not that it matters, but Utah will be wearing a topographical map of SLC on their pants (see link above).
I, for one, really like the variety and wish BYU would embrace it. We've tried the throwback uniforms and I think they were a big hit, but I'd love to see BYU rotate between 4 or 5 different uniforms and helmets throughout the season. Some new, some throwback (remember the crazy orange jerseys--oh yeah baby!) There are those that would say that is is distracting and ostentatious, and they would probably be right at some level, but I still think it would be fun to watch.
I think BYU would see a major boost in merchandise revenue as well, as long as they made the designs available in retail. I can only speak for myself, but I would be much more willing to buy jerseys etc. if they were a bit more unique, edgy or memorable.
Probably not going to happen. Too controversial and not consistent with the whole "brand recognition" philosophy that BYU seems to be promoting during independence. But as it is gaining popularity, especially among upper echelon programs, maybe BYU should jump on board.
