I'm more in the Big 12 camp then not, but..

could we already be getting pushed around by Texas. It sounds like the game against Texas may be shown on the LHN instead of ESPN.



I'm mostly for going to the Big 12 for two reasons - access to BCS and better scheduling. We know that year one is not great in independence, especially at home. Year 2 may be worse. Year 3 is actually great, but year 4 is not good again. So one out of the first 4 years is good at home. That doesn't cut it. If we had more info on scheduling from 2015 on I could be swayed to independence.

That is bad news if we end up on the LHN. It seriously cuts exposure because it's pay-per-view. As far as scheduling goes, I'm not worried about getting a good home schedule in the future. If TH sets things up the right way, we will always have a fair amount of good home games starting in 2013.

The good news that even if it is only on LHN, BYUtv will still be able to replay it shortly there after.

ESPN's website shows the game being on ESPN2 & ESPN3.

Further, one Huge difference between Texas and BYU relative to their tv stations. BYU sees the synergy to partner with ESPN. Texas would want to make their station #1 and render ESPN unnecessary. Mark my words. If BYU gets concession for media rights, we will use it judiciously. Texas will take those rights and yes, start charging pay-per-view, cutting out (get the subtle cattleman's reference?) whomever--including ESPN, Texas A&M, whomever, it doesnt matter.

Just curious dmcougar, where did you hear that the game was going to be on LHN?

Regardless, we will only play Texas at maximum once per year, and only half of those games will be at their home stadium (where they will have home TV rights), so I'm not really too concerned.

I did not generate that rumor/info, I'm just pouncing on it like a Cougar, because if it looks like a Longhorn, smells like a longhorn, acts like a longhorn, foreshadows like a longhorn, guess what????????? YEP. ITS a LONGHORN.
