Zylstra at Point?

Did I read this tweet from Greg Wrubell correctly? Rose is considering Zylstra at PG?



Rose, on PG:"Matt (Carlino) will give us a great addition...but (Zylstra, Cusick and Martineau) showed signs of being able to run our team."



Sigh...I hope a true PG emerges soon.

...or that Zylstra has turned into a stud.

Could it be all of those practices against Emery and jimmer?

Zylstra is more talented than Ben Mrudock and Terry Nashif helped turn him into a serviceable PG in the MWC. I'm fully confident that if the BYU coaches think Zylstra can run the point, BYU will be more than ok in the WCC at the PG.

He might be okay as a big guard on offense but defensively we would have to play zone all game long. Harrison has a better chance of playing some pg in my opinion.

Good point. I mean our coaches would have no idea how to hide a player on defense. Oh wait, nevermind.



I agree with you. I think the player who actually played point on the most recent trip has a much worse chance of playing the point than a player who didn't play any point.



Regardless, the PG is probably only temporary until Carlino is eligible.

THIS^^^^^ Z-man at point would be a stop gap at best. And can it really be any worse then the Munchkin running the point? The team is will be in a holding pattern, hoping that Davies, Collinsworth (if healthy), and Rogers can carry the team until Carlino is eligible.

Hey, if Zylstra is scoring 20 on a consistant basis like he did in greece, I'll take him anyday.

From what little I saw of the games he was scoring with an "old man" game. Flip shots in the lane and stand still jumpers.

20 "old man" points > 20 "young man" bricks.

Maybe Zylstra had a slow start, that doesn't mean he can't improve. He seemed to play well in Greece. It looked like he made a lot of progress.

Football is sure making basketball look good.

That's for sure. Great thing about basketball is no matter how horrible the season there's always a chance for post-season play on the national scene. 1 or 2 losses in football and your resigned to a bowl nobody cares about except you.
