Coach B and Heaps both stated how much improvement occurred today compared to yesterday. Coach indicates both sides of team (O and D) had great effort. Heaps 3-5/29 yards; 16-MJ; 6-Falsev; 7-Cutler/TD. He continues to spread the ball around to different receivers. Sorenson made all 6 FGs including 2 from 43 yards. We will definitely be a threat to score inside the 50 with his leg strength.

Bronco thinks team is much further ahead than he planned. They will begin prepping for Ole Miss tomorrow - should have great game plan in place by opener.

I've been reading for a few weeks how Bronco feels the team is further ahead than planned. This is great news when you consider that Bronco has had some really great teams.

Yeah, but how do you prep for a team when you have no idea which of their QBs and TEs will be starting and which ones will be in Jail, injured, or suspended? More seriously, I just hope Coach isn't delusional about how ready we are when FB, TE, and Safety positions remain not fully answered. And with several new coaches. But maybe we truly are ahead of schedule. But when I saw a BM quote talking about alternating some players at Safety - I thought of Defense's version of QB2. Today's kick return announcement was a bit surprising, but then it seems Hague either ran or returned one to the house as a Freshman before his mission. So maybe he has break-a-way speed. Our team speed seems to be up a notch or two in several places, but let's remember - we still are not talking Texas or Florida speed on this team.

Hague scored a TD as a RB in junk time. It was one of those nightmare plays for a defense, and awesome plays for the Cougars.

he ran right up the middle behind his line and there wasn't a hole anywhere. The D and O kind of piled on, pushed and pulled for a moment, and then Hague out of no where breaks it outside and runs something like 50 yards. We were already up by a huge margin and ti was kind of a fluke play, but everyone was so concentrated on the middle, no one realized that hague was untouched

I think the Hague run was over 70 yards. He has good enough speed. Curious to see Johnson do it. Like to see a corner get that chance, actually.

As for being ready, I think all that means is that BYU had their depth chart in place, the team needs a day off to rest, and them we begin prep for game 1. We get an extra 3 days to prep for it.

And as mentioned, BYU is prepping for Ole Miss by reviewing tapes of Arkansas offense from 2007, because that is the one their current OC ran for Houston Nutt then and is running the same scheme now. It is the scheme they prepare for, not 1 positional player.

Hague was basically all world in high school and did everything for his team. I have kind of been surprised that it has taken this long for him to find a place on the team. I like having him back for kicks. My guess is that he will not be the primary returner and will be intended to be the blocking returner which means it is good that he got the experience blocking as a fullback last year.

It was a long run a long time ago. Time for another one. Maybe he will just be blocking for someone faster. Maybe if we had more Polynesian coaches Vai would return kicks for us.

What about the stuff he learned in the NFL? I think this scheme ends up looking different than 2007. 2007 in Arkansas was Nutt calling the plays like always, Nutt is giving that privilege up for the first time this year. Lee calls it and Gunter Brewer (Ex Ok St Wr Coach) will signal them in

I remember that run. I had just turned to my friend and said wouldn't it be funny if we busted out a TD run here, and off he goes.
