An Alignment I Can't Wait To See...

From the last DSOB article (what a great site/blog, by the way...)

The strength of BYU’s D-line backed up by the group of linebackers that Mendenhall will put on the field should make the Cougars very formidable to run against this season. In obvious passing situations, the Cougars have shown some interesting wrinkles in fall camp, including an alignment with two down linemen and rush specialist Ziggy Ansah and Jordan Pendleton essentially playing as stand-up defensive ends.

I hope they run this formation on the first 3rd and long situation they face on Sept 3.

Its the alignment they are running everytime the O struggles. Zig, JP, and kvn and jamison, all have nfl speed which means, if RB's are assignment sound they will TRY to block,but regardless, nobody has time to get to the flat and nobody wants to go there bc wildman BO and the Undertaker Uona are there waiting to destroy any takers for that dump down pass. And our O has learned that so the high percentage dump down gets taken away. AND further, bc we have a new DB mentality and aggresiveness, they can bump the receiver and not play 10 yards off AND IT ALL WORKS--most of the time.

I also like the plans to bring up Sorenson/Mees as additional LBs in some cases and use them to blitz. The article so indicates that Fangupo and Frazier (projected starters) can't crack starting line-up. That is some serious depth. If we get Putnam and Bryson back (settle academic issues), we will have even more depth. Interesting side note, FC Everett isn't mentioned on 2 deep, what is his status?

I think I read that he is 3rd string CB.
