Thoughts on Utah game

Our team cant afford to look ahead, but we can. I heard an interesting tidbit on AM700 yesterday.

Whit talked about his concerns for depth on the Oline. They had another lineman, a backup, go down yesterday. Seems like they are thin and protection isnt great. Can you imagine the problems Winn will have by game two--if he hasnt been pumelled prior to mtg the Cougs. And can you imagine BYU blitzes coming from all over bc they have shut down the run or Utes get behind by a few TD's and have to throw? Could this be the year we finally have a large win and not a squeaker? Sweet days ahead!

BYU is going to kill Utah.



The Utes are in so much trouble offensively. They have an injured, average-at-best QB who is backed up by guys who are either worse and/or have zero FBS experience.



They have zero FBS experience at RB. One guy fighting for time was playing rugby this time last year.



Their best wide reciever's biggest claim to fame right now is being the son of a former NFL WR.



Their offensive line is injured and thin on depth. They've had to move guys from the DL over to have enough bodies. They dont' seem to pass block well - as seen by their 12 sacks allowed in their most recent scrimmage.



When asked one thing the Utes did well on offense in their scrimmage their starting QB said that they didn't fumble and QB-RB exchanges.



They are going to struggle scoring points and it's going to cost them several games. They could easily start a slide that just keeps picking up speed. Throw in an injury to Wynn and the wheels could really fall off the Utes wagon this year.

I wonder if an injury to Wynn might be good for the team to move forward. (I know this comment will sound suspicious to some of you, I'm just sayin. :-) )

I hope Bronco shows no mercy. The best part about that is most BYU players will be back and better the next year, so the "revenge" game the next year will be just as bad for the Utes.

I just do not want it to be close at all because something stupid like last year could happen and I want to be able to breathe at halftime. :munch:

I want to just sit and gloat for the 2nd half thank you very much. :evil:

I would like to see our D get about 10 sacks and they have minus rushing yardage ... and we score 60 and they score 0... ok I'm done :crazy:

This is the first time in a while that BYU has a shot to pound Utah. Because we are at home, we have more experience, and we have talent. As long as we stay healthy coming into this game, no reason we shouldn't win comfortably.



Thing is, I know that Utah has a solid D-line. Guess what--we have a unit to offset that. They return many guys from last year's line, and so do we. And while our O-line did not create massive holes and struggled on short yardage, they also kept Utah from touching Jake most of the game. That defense that sacked Wynn 12 times yesterday did not get to Jake like that at all. I do not see them being that much better at a pass rush, I see the Utah O-line as having major issues.

No question this should be a rout, yet again. Does BYU have the killer instinct of years ago though? Anae certainly did not. Hopefully that has changed...
