Tim Mctyer, whether the best or not, was probably the most effective. When he came, he completely tranformed the D- backfield, by showing them that they could actually hit the ball carriers, not just drag them down. He was one of the best hitters to ever play at BYU IMO.

We actually already named our best ever safeties, so I amended the original post to be for corners and nickel backs.

Mark Allen - without him, the '84 perfect season ends in Pitt, like the '83 one did in Baylor.
