Update on players for Fall Camp

Q was seen on campus recently gingerly favoring his right ankle but he was not wearing a boot. Anyone know if this is serious - will he be ready in three weeks for the Ole Miss game?



Jordan Smith, the speedy 6-4 grayshirt WR may be academically ineligible due to the NCAA questioning the completion of an on-line summer semester course? Supposedly a petition in process.



Any other news or updates on these or other players?

Jordan Smith is not in the 2-deep and will not be this year--so no huge deal.



As to Q, without knowing how severe the ankle issues is, hard to say what it means. Could be days, could be weeks, could be longer. Depends on severity. Not good.

I know he wasn't on the two deep, but if Smith is ineligible that sucks. He's another fast big receiver. I know Hoffman was kept out of the Spring game, but Smith ran with the number one O in Hoffman's spot. So I would think that means he's not too far from being on the two deep. It would be nice to have several receivers 6'3" or bigger that can run, be physical and go up and get the ball. It would be nice to have a 5 wide set occasionally or even a four wide with a couple of big receivers... of course that might not be necessary if we can get some decent tight end play. Come on Reynolds, work some magic on those TE's.



Also I was just looking at SUU roster and noticed that Ryan Comer another Kid that had joined the team for spring ball, transferred to SUU for the fall. Any news on that? Did he just look at the depth chart and realize he would be buried? I was kind of excited for him I had heard that he was a guy with a real shot to contribute when he came out of Snow.

Q was a "coach" at youth sports camp today and was not limping - did appear to have ankle braces to each leg today but was moving well...

Aren't you getting a little ahead of yourself? Today is aug. 3, game is Sept. 3. Even the shortest month of February has 4 weeks in it, so 4-1/2 weeks is still our wait, unless of course you plan to hibernate through one of those weeks to speed it along, which may not be a bad idea.

I'll be at scout camp with 25 12 and 13 year olds. I wish I were hibernating! :~(

We don't know the severity of the sprain - but three weeks to completely heal is one timeline - getting reps and cardio is a different story if playing full speed. I expect real story will be made known at start of week when they run Y mountain.

How do we know that? Who is BYU's 3rd great WR this year, after Hoffman and assumedly Apo?
