Max Hall

So did anyone else hear about Max Hall going to the 49ers to compete with smith for the starting job? Just messing around, no truth to that statement whatsoever. But does this kolb signing mean the end of Max getting a shot at a starting position? Or does he go drew brees and sit around for a couple of years and then explode on the scene somewhere else?

I would like to see Max traded to New Orleans and sit behind Brees. I have always thought that he would be a good fit in the New Orleans offense.



Max could follow the Steve Young path. The important thing for Max is to be somewhere the offense will be a good fit.

That's not exactly what Brees did. He started his entire second season in the NFL, got yanked in his third season in favor of Flutie when the Chargers needed a playoff push and when he struggled a bit, but he played his entire third season when Rivers held out and led the Chargers to 12-4, a division title, and then got run out of town by Schottenheimer to make room for Rivers.



Brees started 27 games in his second and third years. That's not sitting around a couple of years.

Arizona cut Derek Andersen, so Max will most likely be the back-up for Arizona, if he stays healthy. He is in a good situation. Just needs to learn to cut down turnovers.

Did they get any help on the OL?

My mistake, I thought Drew Brees kind of languished in mediocrity for his first 3 years with San Diego and then the last two years he performed well but they decided to go with Philip Rivers anyway. This is his 10th year in the league five with both teams. Either way it doesn't matter, the point was/is will he just be a life long back up to Kevin Kolb or do you think he might develop enough to become a potential starter later on in his career?

MAx is a back-up and spot starter in the NFL. Competitor with heart, but limited and error prone. I see him as an 8-10 year back-up.

8 year backup = a couple cool mill in the bank. Not a bad gig.



Also, then he could come back to BYU and take over for Doman (who just got promoted to HC when Bronco finally decided he was tired of the spotlight.)

Not trying to split hairs but Brees was only "run out of town" because in the final game of the season he shredded his throwing shoulder trying to recover his own fumble near the endzone and SD was afraid to take a chance on him. He was either going to Miami or NO and wisely chose NO for his skill set and a new offense under then new-coach Peyton. Btw, not a big Saints or Brees fan, just happened to have listened to his book on tape on a long roadie last week.
