BYU signs 2 for 1 with Utah St.

Looks like Utah St. will be making the trip down to Provo a few more times in the upcoming years.



Utah also signed a 4 year deal with Utah St. which will be 2 for 2.

It is always good to cite your information in case people ask where it comes from.

I'll get hammered for this, but USU is one team I would do a home and home with indefinitely. Good series for BYU (lots of wins), they're willing to work around conference weekend, they got shafted in part because they were trying to help BYU out and the series has a lot of history.

Utah State comes to Provo in 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2015. Isn't that more like a 4 for 1?



I like not having to drive to Logan, but I'd take a better home game instead and play on the road in Logan instead of a much tougher road game.

No. It's actually two separate two-for-ones. The first game was last year in Logan (2010-2012). The second two-for-one starts in 2013.

The way I see it is that the 2-1 deal works in USU's favor as well since they likely make better money coming to Provo than playing in Logan, They get national tv game in Provo and The one in Logan helps fill the stands and keep their attendance numbers up every third year.

That seems like light justification, especially at the national TV end of things. It should be noted that the BYU/ Utah State game in Logan has actually been on worldwide TV more often than it has in Provo thanks to Mtn's contract the past few years. It should also be noted that the WAC still has their contract with ESPN in place, and if somehow ESPN didn't pick up this game, it would be picked up by WAC Sports Network (which is on ESPN3) who is supposedly going to let BYUtv air some of the games should BYU games end up on WSN next season. Really only once has the contract fallen under Utah State's local TV contract, and that time it was only shown on state TV.

At least they finally announced a couple...even if it is just Utah St.

I'm actually shocked. I didn't think TH had it in him to get a 2fer from USU. Well done my man! The Utah/USU deal is noted in the DesNews as being a continuation of a prior contract. I would have to imagine that for them it will also be the last contract they do without likewise asking for a 2fer.

SO how do Utah St. fans react to this? They can't be too happy, but then, they don't get to see the x% more money that rolls into Utah St. coffers as a result even if the exposure is the same.



I'm also on the boat that says Utah St. should be rewarded for sticking by BYU and their word to bring BYU Oly sports into the WAC. I can't imagine being in their sports' office when they heard about the WAC falling out from under them. Especially as they got backstabbed and lied to by nevadNAH and FresNO. I still hate their scummy lying programs. passionately.
