Best Ever--Punter Edition

Stiff coug I believe it was brad hunter. Alan boardman seemed to be 4 yrs of very consistent punting. McMahon in 78? Was pretty good. Alan boardman gets my vote

Matt Payne - I'm pretty sure we lose to ND in '04 without his punting. He was absolutely amazing that day. Besides, how many other punters* have a TD pass on their stats? ;)



*I'm aware the TD pass was a fake FG, not a punt, but still - he's a punter with a TD on his stat sheet. :D



Also, I'm pretty sure Hunter the Punter's name was Brad, and that Shane Hunter was a linebacker for us last year.

I seem to remember once when Hunter decided on his own that he would pick up the ball and run with it . He did get the 1st down. Lavell tried his best to look serious for a couple of minutes, but could't help patting him on the back and smiling. Kind of a classic moment. Hunter was also a pretting big guy if I remember right.

Cougarstats.com has him at 6'5" 260, which seems about right for a DT. I remember one punt return where he was the last guy to beat, and the returner had a lead blocker with a receiver's build. As soon as Hunter got close, the lead blocker chickened out and took off! Hilarious.

JIm McMahon punted his freshman year IIRC. He also punted once as a QB on 3rd down.
