J. J. DiLuigi on the Doak Walker Award Watch List

Congrats to JJ, it's good to see our best offensive player last year get some rewards and make it to the watch list.

This should incite a nice little Quezada v. DiLuigi debate.

MEh, nice honor, will see if he makes the short list in October. That is what matters most.



Preseason lists do nothing for me. How can they when Jordan Wynn got named to one for QBs??

The only thing preseason lists is let you know how close the season is getting.

Kind of like pre-season ranking of teams.



I love JJ's running, but with a stable of strong runners I expect to see a lot of even distro of the ball this year betweek Juice, JJ, and BK.

I've noticed that in addition to being able to run and catch the ball, our running backs do quite a bit of blocking. Is that typical on other teams? Is JJ as good at blocking as Juice and BK?

jj will be in the slot a lot this year and juice will run the ball more and more as the season goes on.

Quezada's lack of blocking skill/effort was a large part of the reason why he was not used as much last season, especially early on.

New scheme this year, so not sure what sort of sets we will run. 1 or 2 TE power formations led to 1 back sets. 1 TE set leads to a lead FB blocker. Fun part is BYU can throw out of any of those sets, and leave certain guys in to block or receive on each play. Less predictability, but also puts more on the RB spot to be able to block at times. But usually, the RB at BYU is not a main blocking position, but FB sure is.

Until things finally started clicking the last couple games last season, you were THE offense. I know preseason lists don't mean much, but I'm sure it's still an honor for him. Plus, let's be honest, with Juice probably set to get a lot more carries than he did last year, Luigi's chances of making the semifinals list is pretty slim.



Side note: I had a good laugh when I read that Wynn ranks 10th all-time at :utard: in career touchdown passes with 25. 25 TDs wouldn't even get you in the top 10 single season list at BYU :lol:

Wynn's 25 career TDs would rank him #21 for BYU QB TDs....in a single season. For a career, that is good for #15 at BYU, ten behind Doman, and 4 ahead of Covey.
