Time to offer Sawyer Powell as an athlete (SS, OLB)

The kid's a winner and has shown that he will outwork everyone around him. We need more athletes like this. Offer him as an athlete then get back to signing Hinds, Biegel, Vanaika, Lutui, and Kaumatule, get Zach Lindsey to see the light and top it off with a JUCO burner receiver/corner and the 2012 class will be a dream come true.

Something must be cooking for him to not have an offer. Scholie crunch? Is he good enough for BYU to tell one of those folks you list that, "sorry, but you snooze--you lose" and give it to him? I'm glad someone who knows what BYU is doing has made a decision on those lines and hopefully it is the right one. Thus far it looks like BYU is still waiting.

Very impresseive. A mystery why he hasn't been offered yet. This is the kind of athlete we want @ BYU. Sawyer is a beast.



The article lists all the schools that are interested in him (Missouri, BYU, Yewts, Idaho, Boise St., Oregon St. - Scout.com has Arizona, Arizona St., Oregon, Washington & Washington St. all interested) but ho one has offered yet. What's up with that? It's not like he is too small.



He's 6' 1.5" & 205 lbs. I would venture an offer in pending. He's too good to miss on.

He has stated previously that he will commit if he received a BYU offer.

Watching his highlight video (which is obviously just a small peek into an athlete's work) I was a little disappointed after hearing about what a great athlete the kid is. He seems like a solid player, though, and could really blossom playing under Bronco's tutelage.

That's a very key point. Bronco takes Defensive athletes & brings out the best in them. Look @ what he did last year w/ a struggling, low performing BYU Defense. He turned them into a stingy, rock solid unit. Sawyer Powell has the key ingredients - athleticism, desire, good size. Bronco would polish that raw gem.

Powell was at BYU camp a few weeks back, so the coaches got to work with him 1 on 1, and they did not offer at hat time. I assume it is because they are holding spots for Biegel and Hinds, and if Biegel sticks with Wisconsin, Powell might get it. They told him to send in some tape of his first 3 games his senior year.



I also read where it was reported that BYU would offer only 19 schollies this year, and BYU is at 15 verbals as of right now--including Lindsay. That leaves 4 more to give, and with offers out there for Fanaika, Hinds, Biegel, Kaumatule and others, BYU might be waiting. From what I am reading, Kaumatule sounds like a Stanford lean, Biegel a Wisconsin lean. The other two are also up in the air, so Powell could get an offer, and perhaps Lutui as well.



I love the fact that Mangum is getting so much love, because having a solid QB always attracts more honey.
