Perhaps a Scheduling Announcement?!

So does anyone know anything more about this Media Day? I wonder why Dave Brown is going to be there. Isn't he the guy in charge of Texas new network? I hoping this turns into an announcement of sorts. But the why would they not just say they are going to announce some future games or the 2012 schedule, etc.? Perhaps it won't be anything too special...

If memory serves, he was the ESPN VP that was at the independence announcement. So it will probably have something to do with the schedule. :D

Correct. Dave Brown is the ESPN insider who was at the Indy announcement. If he is there for a media event, it means he has something to announce, likely to do with ESPN. I am sure that Tom Holmoe could announce on his own, so the fact an ESPN head will be there means they want to get some pub for it. I suspect it all finds its way on to ESPN.com and SportsCenter.

He was there at the announcement on 9/1/10. I liked what he had to say last time. ;) I hope he'll have more to say about Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Ohio State and all those other "rumors". I think it is safe to say there will be some scheduling announcement July 12th!



I was wondering why Holmoe had not already made the next batch of announcements since he said that we are pretty much done with 2012 scheduling and 3/4 done through 2016 as of a few months back. I guess it makes sense to do it after we are officially free and independent. Not to mention that announcing it on BYUtv is the best way to go, since something as team specific as scheduling announcements are not ESPN news worthy and it continues to build the BYUtv brand.



Last question: Why doesn't Holmoe and BYUtv just announce that they will reveal some future games etc., at this time. Wouldn't that get more attention and publicity? Isn't what they did when announcing 2011?

Remember that there was a thought mentioned previously that the upcoming announcement concerning upcoming scheduled games was going to be after the Y's camps and would likely help several recruits commit. Sounds like the timing is on target and I also expect the announcement to help us with Hinds, Ah-Ching, Powell and Williams.

There has to be an ESPN scheduling announcement otherwise ESPN wouldn't send a VP to a media day. No doubt they will announce some of the "home - home - neutral site" series that are being rumored. It appears that scheduling won't be such an issue after-all.



How many ESPN games to the frUtes have scheduled for next season? Oh yeah, only 2.



A big announcement will only help land some of those 2012 recruits that are holding out on us. Sure we have a sweet viewing schedule for next season, but it will help the recruits to hear that they will be able to play some of the biggest teams on the biggest network in the upcoming years.
