Ty Detmer's play in the 1990 Miami game.



Clearly the day he won the Heisman. Possibly the best game ever by a BYU QB.

Detmer was 17-17 on drives in which BYU scored.

I love watching that game. It is amazing to me how often Detmer threw over the middle against those guys, and not just dump passes. BYU attacked the middle all day with great success. I often wondered where that was the last several years in our offense.

That was vintage BYU football. I have missed it too. BYU used to stretch the field a lot better. Receivers were open all day 15-20 yards down field. And somehow a 10 yard pass was routinely turning into 20, 25, or 30 yards.



I expect with Doman's offense that BYU will be back to this. Maybe the QB completion percentage will be lower, but the yards per attempt will go up, and that is the bottom line.
