BYU FB Greatest Hits

There have been some great hits over the years but one of my favorite shots was when Scottie Johnson came flying out of no-where to dislodge the ball from OSU Receiver Marcus Wheaton.

He did "launch" himself but he hit the ball and OSU player's arms/hands with his shoulder. There was no helmet to helmet contact. He hit him hard and he dislodged the completed pass. Perfectly timed hit - should not have been a penalty. One thing is for sure, he scared the wee out of Wheaton. :P

OK - not a vicious direct hit, but the most critical and unimaginable hit in BYU history - Kyle Morrell Vs UH - saved the NC that year.

Those Payne hits would have been SO much more impressive if he'd kicked the winning field goal at the end of the game...

Best part is Scotty J got the last laugh by intercepting the OSU pass on the very next play.

Pendelton leveling Jaquizz Rodgers on the fumble is another great hit.

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet...Jordan Pendelton on Jordan Wynn.

Not an extremely hard hit but if we're going to make a list of greatest hits. The most famous hit in recent memory has to be up there. Coleby Clawson taking out Sam Bradford!!!!! Legen..... (wait for it!!!!!) dary

This time the ball carrier is the one doling out the punishment. 2007 BYU-Utah, Harvey running in for the go-ahead touchdown, just levels the Ute safety. This isn't the best video of it, but it is a clip of just that play.

Man, Harvey hits him and he just slams against the ground.

Can't find a video of just the hit, but in 2001 Utah throws a bubble screen to a receiver who turns and runs right into Justin Ena, who plants him in the turf. 1:23 in this video:

Aaron Fransisco against SDSU. 1:08 in the above video.



I haven't ever found a video of it but Rob Morris against either UNLV or SDSU, can't remember which, absolutely destroyed the RB on an option play. Morris zeroed in on the RB and hit him full speed just as the ball arrived. It was one of the greatest hits I've ever seen a BYU player make. Somebody on our team tried to pick up the fumble and ended up just knocking it out of bounds though. Frustrating.



If anybody knows where there is a video of this I'd love to see it again.
