Who are the must gets for BYU in 2012 now?

As of June 22, we have 12 kids who are commits. Per Gurney, we will land from 5-7 more, depending on who they are. Of those 5-7, who are the must gets for BYU to make this class special?



MY list:



Troy Hinds

Brandon Fanaika

Butch Pua'u

Hiva Lutui

a 3* RB, perhaps Jamaal Williams or Jalen Richard or Byron Marshall



I suspect we get 3 more commits in the next week Hoping at least 2 from this list.

2 of of the three linebackers puau, hinds, and ah ching



Those are the only must gets in my book.



as for williams, fanaika and Lutui, as long as they don't go to Utah we are fine. It has to be us or not them.



I think williams will commit after his sdsu visit and i really hope puau commits soon as well.

I do not think we will get/offer Ah Ching. It sounds like he wants to wait until LOI Day and make a spectacle of himself, and I do not see BYU holding an offer for him, espeically with the LBs we have already signed. I expect he is off our list once we get commits from Pua'u and his HS teammate later this week.



Add to it that he chose the All Poly camp so he could get in front of more coaches from many schools, and I am not sure he is a BYU commit anyway.

Based upon the positive comments coming from the recruits, I believe that we get the following players:



Jamaal Williams - RB

Jherremya Leuta-Douyere - FB/LB

Butch Pauu - LB

Troy Hinds - DE

Sawyer Powell - LB



Possibilities:



Atamu (Adam) Ah Ching - LB (especially if his friend Pauu commits).

Brandon Fanaika - OL (has 7 offers including 6 Pac-12 teams)

Hiva Lutui - OL (His best buddy plays for BYU, and he has stated he wants a BYU offer).

If it is 7 guys, my complete wish list is Pau'u, Hinds, Fanaika, Litui, Powell, Williams and Biegel. But I think the 7th will be Leuta-Douyere, as he has an offer now. I think he and Butch commit together soon. I think Ah-Ching misses out, unless Hinds does not commit.

I agree with the 4 "must get" list. I think we land Fanaika & Pu'au. I would love to get Hinds & Lutui. I think they are long shots - hope I'm wrong. All 4 are Beasts!



I think Jamaal Williams commits in the next 2 weeks to the Y.

I am hearing that Pau'u will be a BYU commit in the next couple of days. His buddy that BYU offered will also commit. He was ready to commit on the spot when offered, but BYU told him to take time and discuss with his parents, as he is a non-LDS kid. Wanted them to all be comfortable with the offer.

If Pauu, Ah Ching and Powell commit, can you imagine the future at LB with these guys and the other recent commits:

I still do not see Ah Ching at BYU, unless Pau'u chooses elsewhere. WE have already commit so many ILB's to this class, and after Butch comes in, I just do not see it. I could be surprised, though, but I doubt it.

Hinds would be a nice get in terms of the in-state recruiting battle. He's 2012's biggest in-state recruit, like Harvey Langi was last year.

I think that Troy will come to BYU "IF" he stays in state. The recruiting threat, IMHO, is from the "out of state" big name schools. It's very tempting for a high school kid to get caught up in the heady emotional pull of a big name program. I fully understand the lure. I hope Dad can stay grounded & help his son become a Coug. It would be best for Troy in the long haul, and really good for Y Football.

Now that we have Williams, Butch P, JLD who is a must get with the remaining schollies? Looks like Lutui would be a good replacement if the Davis HS OL can't cut the grades. I'd like to see a couple more DBs, RBs, DL or overall athletes that can play multiple positions.
