Thoughts about All Poly Camp

There are some good OL, DB and LBs that we are pursuing that performed quite well.

All Poly camo, eh? Does that mean you can't see them when they're on one of the islands?

According to Brother Vai, we have no chance of landing anyone as we don't reach out to the community enough and didn't hire Mark Atuaia.

Yep, because hosting events like the All-Poly camp doesn't count.

There are actually 3 of these camps. The first and original started in Bountiful. The second is in SoCal. The third is in Samoa, and Troy Polamalu is behind that one.

There is also one in Hawaii.

From Brandon Gurney:



Alema Te'o will run the same camp in Bountiful as he will in Hawaii and then on to Samoa. Troy Polamalu is heading the Samoan camp, and has asked Alema to administer it...they're expecting around 600 attendees.

Quick story about Coach Te'o: when I was a Senior at WX waaaay back in the early 90's he was a line coach iirc for the football team. He was also the annoucer for the varsity basketball games. During our game against Bountiful, our ute equivalent in terms of rivals, Coach Te'o was doing one of the best homer jobs I have ever heard by shouting anything good about WX and almost murmuring anything Bountiful did good. The parents from Bountiful were getting pretty upset about it and it was a really close game. I was sitting directly across from Te'o and could see him glancing over his shoulder every now and then. According to some of our team's parents, the Boutiful parents were profaning at Te'o and one in particular was shouting things like, "go back to Africa you ___-_______ coconut picker" among other things. Finally with the game inside a minute and WX up by two Boutiful calls a timeout. Problem was they didn't have any TO's remaining so there was some confusion amongst the fans while the refs called a Tech and gave the ball to WX. When it was finally explained to the crowd by a clearly gloating Te'o, the parent of one of the Btfl players stood up, came out of the crowd, and put Te'o in a headlock. Te'o wasn't even fazed. He stood straight up, turned around and with one punch to the face knocked the guy out causing him to fall backward and strike his head on the bleachers and also causing him to lose several teeth. Needless to say the refs called the game immediately and melees broke out all over the parents section of the bleachers.



Sorry to hijack this thread but seeing his name brought back one of the most shocking memories I have from HS.

Thats quite the fantastical story. I was following along until the part about Woods Cross winning the game. Everybody knows that Woods Cross doesn't beat Bountiful at anything...



I believe that Bountiful currently has a longer streak of consecutive football victories over Woods Cross than BYU had over Utah State before losing last season.

Comment that stood out in the article:



Junior linebacker Trajan Pili of Centennial HS (Nevada) took home one of the MVP trophies for his position. Trajan was arguably one of the front runners for overall Camp MVP. Multiple times his name came up in coaching conversations throughout the camp. Pili is a must get for BYU.

I believe that Bountiful currently has a longer streak of consecutive football victories over Woods Cross than BYU had over Utah State before losing last season.

I may be wrong but I think 1990 is the last time WX won in football on the then (and maybe still) state record 420+ yards rushing and 3 td's by Kitt Rawlings who went on to play at Kansas State as Snyder started to turn that program around. But in hoops WX beat them 3x that season (2 regular season and 1 state playoffs) IIRC WX lost to Murray (with Jeff Johnsen) in the Semi's then won the consolation game.
