Best Ever--Center Edition

We're doing this each week to get us through the Spring/Summer doldrums. Monday I'll set the position and let you all submit names for consideration. After a couple of days, I'll take your nominations and create a poll thread to open up the voting as well as a more pointed debate, with a CougarCorner winner being crowned each Sunday evening.



This week = the center---who do you think is in the conversation for best ever guy to get felt up on a regular basis by a product of the quarterback factory?

Was it Sete Aulai that had to shotgun snap 99% of his snaps and yet never had one go too high or too low?

Oates Gets my vote. But for good measure, how about Jason Schukanec (sp?) I believe he was a three year starter. Or what about Scott Young? I think he was the center and he held the combine record for a while for most bench presses.

I would say 'Bart Oates', then Trevor Matich.

I stand corrected, I could've sworn that he was snapping to ball to Detmer, but I was wrong.

But Mo did make the best pancakes. He belongs on the Best Guard or Best Breakfast list.

PS - Bart Oates. I have met him a few times. He visits my Ward when he brings his family out for the Pro Bowl. Great player. Great guy.

Bart's brother was my wife's bishop about 8.5 years ago. Nice as can be. He played football at BYU as well, but not as big as Bart was.

I am assuming Brad Oates is who you are talking about. Although not as great as Bart, Brad was a very good player. It seems like he may also have played professionally for a while iirc.

What about Larry Moore? He was split time between center and guard.



Orrin Olsen was pretty good (so I am told).
