Terrell Pryor = done with NCAA

On the local sports radio, they just reported that Joe Schad is saying Terrell Pryor is going for the supplemental draft.



If true, this is definitely a sign of more bad news coming out of the OSU investigations. I don't know many people who elect to enter the supplemental draft in the middle of a lockout.

I am shocked! Just shocked! OSU allowed Pryor to play in the Sugar Bowl in part because of his promise to return and take his five game suspension in '11....

Gotta love the hypocrisy from the NCAA/BCS the last day or two:



1. NCAA/BCS decide to allow Pryor and a number of others to play in BCS game despite their ineligibility, provided they sit out 5 games the next season.

2. NCAA/BCS strip USC of their BCS National Championship because one player was ineligible.



Not to mention the difference between the Dez Bryant treatment (a full season suspension) and Cam Newton (one-day suspension).



Are there rules here? Or not?

Apparently it is a crapshoot and when you have a crapshoot you encourage people to break the rules hoping the crapshoot will break their way...Auburn and OSU won big. SC and Ok State not

The Dez Bryant one never sat right with. My understanding is they ended up finding nothing wrong with his interactions with Deion Sanders, but gave him a full season suspension because he lied about it. I could understand a few games because he lied (which I would still consider a heavy punishment), but the whole season?!

Is there a Wiener joke in here somewhere?

Supposedly, new info is coming out on Pryor that teh offenses run pretty deep, including large $$$ payments for signature on memorabilia. Dates back to at least 2006 at tOSU as well, so they are looking fora world of hurt on this issue because it predates Pryor at tOSU. It also makes the NCAA look stupid for not making thos kids sit. Will be interesting hopw Pryor gets ruled inelegible, and hte BCS strip them of the 2010 win. THe BCS needs to also ask for their $$$ back, because hte school should not have been there. Put some teeth in it.

I'm still not a fan of stripping away/vacating wins and championships. Taking those things down are an attempt to pretend they didn't happen. They should used as teaching tools.



USC shouldn't be made to take down their 2004 BCS Championship banner. They should be made to change the color (so it stands out), font size (make it smaller) and put a large asterisk by it. That way fans/boosters/coaches/players will be reminded each time they saw it that it was won by cheating.

Athletes lose their olympic medals when they cheat and I'm okay with that, so I have no problem with the NCAA.



I think the shame of losing your championship during the time of the revocation, and your "greatness" being forgotten about through the annals of history is about as good of punishment as you can give in these kinds of situations

I say strip the title. That embarrasses a university and a fanbase. And if that does not shame a school into being more diligent is pursuing rule violators, nothing will. FAct is, teh NCAA an not be in all places at all times, so the onus is on the schools to self-regulate, and I like that fact. When they are lax, as tOSU clearly has been, as USC was, and as SEC teams have proven to me, the university deserves the shame that comes with using ineligible players.

Yeah, if having the title removed/stripped isn't going to shame you to stop, have an asterisk probably won't either.

It's funny to see Oklahoma running away from any suggestion they lay claim to the championship. The last thing Stoops wants is any scrutiny of his program in light of the current trend. Anyone remember Rhett Bomar? OU's wunderkid QB who got outed by Texas A&M fans for getting cars and cash from a Norman car dealership that also happened to be the football team's biggest booster? Does anyone really believe that a freshman QB was the only one getting "bonuses" and only that one semester???

I seem to remember a few other players who left with Bomar. But yes, Oklahoma wants nothing to do with NCAA looking into extra benefits. I wouldn't be surprised to see similar things happening with other big-time programs.



The fact that Terrell Pryor made upward of $40K is very telling and that it appears this started before he even made it to Columbus. You can bet he wasn't the only Buckeye making serious cash. I think OSU is in real trouble.

I don't think NCAA scrutiny is the only reason OU isn't speaking up about claiming the championship. Remember how that game went? OUch!!! USC absolutely embarrassed them from start to finish. That's one game I'm sure OU would just like to forget.

So does BYU get to change their 2004 record from 4-7 to 4-6 since we lost to USC that year?
