BYU Football 2011 Depth Chart is Out

The depth chart going into Fall Camp has a number of surprises, not the least of which is Riley Nelson at #1 for the QBs:

That must be a mistake because in the section profiling the QB position Jake is refered to as the clear-cut started. . .

Weird. On page 12 it has the 2011 depth chart listed, and Jake Heaps is clearly listed first before Riley Nelson. I think that page 22 thing is just key returning players, which makes me wonder why Riley is listed, and not Jake.



Jake is certainly going to be the starter.



Edit: Page 18 of the PDF shows Heaps listed under Key Returning Players as well. So the depth chart is on page 12, then goes into key returning players.

Yeah I admit, I have a hard time with sarcasm online. He got me... hook line and sinker.

Depth chart from Spring is never how it ends up anyway. Some guys out injured or just home from a mission not listed at all. Others who were out injured for spring still listed. No ryhme or reason to some of those. I suspect many positions are locked in, but some will change. Examples:



Joe Sampson not listed. But he will play.

Eason was out spring and got his #1 corner spot. Same goes for Fuga at NT. But Wilson was not listed in top 3 at TE, and was out for spring. Gaines not listed either, and was out for spring, but is supposed to be back, as he is listed on the roster. Zac Stout not on the 2-deep at ILB either, which surprises. In fact, not on the 3 deep.



Players not on roster include Bryson and Keoshian. Assumed CK would be gone, but thought Bryson might make it back, but looking less likely now.
