The words I'd prefer to say are of lesser choice but greater meaning.

Grow a pair, at least pretend you are not paid off.

This response is a classic bail out because he really did not address the questions, although stating that his member institutions have not pressed the matter is true. The NCAA presidents do oversee this whole mess, and as long as the universities do not press for a playoff, it will not happen. The Non-AQ schools, which outnumber the AQ schools, need to push the matter, and until they do, it goes nowhere. Problem is, the bowl system helps the litle guys, so not sure the motivation, until financials can show more $$ to little guys with a playoff system over the bowl system. So the NCAA gets run by the Uni presidents, the BCS gets run by the BCS league Athletic Directors, and those guys report to the uni presidents. It is really jacked up.

So, was that the waltz or the jitterbug, 'cause dude was dancing around those questions like John Travolta. What a joke of a response, it's bull**** responses like that make me hate the NCAA and everything associated with it (except BYU). Guy needs to grow up and say "Hell, no I don't want a playoff. My pockets will go empty" At least that would be somewhat respectable.

The non-AQ schools do NOT outnumber the AQ schools.

There are six BCS conferences and Notre Dame. In 2011, there will be 67 AQ teams (8 Big East, 12 Big 10, 12 ACC, 12 SEC, 12 PAC-12, 10 Big 12, Notre Dame). In 2012 there will be 68 when TCU joins the Big East.

In 2011, there are 54 non-AQ teams.(3 Independents, 12 Conference USA, 13 Mid-American, 9 MWC, 9 Sun Belt and 8 WAC).

The NCAA president can't really comment, because he doesn't run the FBS. He doesn't have the votes to regain control.

He can't comment because the BcS threatened to take away his cats accessories, (e.g., the balls of yarn, cat clothes, wind up mice, etc)

They pay a lot of money to keep him happy...I think it equates to 70 dollars a month.

The real problem is that AD and coaches at every school get their bonuses based on a bowl appearance. These are the same guys who set up the system so they are ripping off their schools twice. Once when the school loses money sending their team to a bowl and a second time when they have to pay their lame AD/coaches bonuses for making a minor bowl. If they went to a playoff system ADs and coaches would get bonuses based on making the playoff rather than a bowl. If you want a better system you have to remove the perverse incentive the lesser schools (both AQ and non-AQ) have for keeping the system the way it is. A good case of capture theory - but that is government for you.
