BYU and Comcast

So, I was driving by LES the other day and noticed some new big blue banners with former and current players on them were up on the west side of the stadium. "Vivint" was the sponsor of a couple but to my shock "Xfinity" graced the top of the other 2. I thought BYU and Comcast were mortal enemies sworn to battle in deepest cavern and tallest mountain but it looks like they are one of our sponsors. Anybody have any idea what's going on? Did Comcast really try to screw BYU or just everybody else in the conference? Do they really want to help BYU out? What's going on?

They wanted to keep BYU exclusively for them. There were issues, obviously, but they are the primary cable provider in Utah (Utah is a high cable saturation state). So when push came to shove, BYU probably needed sponsorship and HD distribution for it's channel, so they played nice. Business is business.

Agreed, I just had to do a double take when I saw it.

In less than 3 years, BYUtv will become a big enough brandname/indirect income maker that BYUtv will be the sponsor and provider of HD screens, etc.



comcast won't be around long, I'd wait till the fall, perhaps they will be gone by then (I can guarandamtee mwc signs will be gone)



Speaking of the evils, I wonder what they did with the etched stone of BYU that sits behind the mwc hosts. I bet they did terrible things to it, losers.
