Who was Jordan Cameron?

I was just watching the NFL Draft & saw the Cleveland Browns take Jordan Cameron in the 4th Round. The announcer said: "Jordan is extremely athletic, he played basketball @ BYU. But left BYU to pursue a Football career." Whaaaaaaaat???



So - he leaves BYU, ends up as TE @ USC & now in the NFL?? How did we miss this one? I've never heard of this kid. He's 6' 5", 255 lbs., and tested off the charts for the NFL.



"After high school, Cameron decided to play basketball at Brigham Young University rather than football. After redshirting his freshman year (2006–07), he decided to give football another try."



I'm greedy - I just don't like the Cougs to lose any good athletes to other programs.

His sister was a basketball player at USC. She is the mother of Matt Leinhart's child.



When Jordan left BYU he claimed part of the reason he left was because people were saying bad things about his sister on the BYU message boards. I never saw those things, but whatever.

He would have been 2nd, maybe 3rd string up until Last year (behind Pitta and George). Maybe he didn't want that and that is why he went elsewhere to play football. With all of the tight end recruits, maybe he inquired about a football scholorship and was told he would have to walk on and then got an offer from USC? We don't know, we do know that BYU has been LOADED at TE for a while now though with the exception of last year when everyone was a freshman.

Yes - interesting. And last year, he would have played @ the Y. He would have been "the man!"



But, it's all water under the bridge. I simply had never heard of him. I was curious how he slipped away. Looks like he did not slip away at all - he made a choice to leave on his own. Oh well - I wish him well in his new career.

He played hoops at BYU, not football. Perhaps USC offered his a schollie to come, and BYU did not to stay for football. Lots of reasons.



I do know that CB and other sites were brutal towards his sister after the Lenairt issue. Got really judgmental. Tends to be a complaint I have about some LDS in general, though. Not enough compassion at times, even when a bad choice is made.

...especially when a bad choice is made. I'd be ticked if a message board was dragging a loved one through the mud. I'm sure she was the first one to regret what had happened.
