The Schedule and Exposure: what does it all mean?

So I am resigned to getting most of the big games away from Provo, not a big deal for me since I usually only make it up twice a year from Tucson, so I can make it up for USU conference weekend and one other big opponent, which seems to be all we are getting until 2013 when I may have to start coming up 3x per year and buying season tickets.

The purpose of the BYU football team (in relation to exposure) is still unclear to me. I mean how does the AD evaluate a potential match-up? Is there a formula? Would they rather play home and away series or a one and done or would they take a 2-1 from a MAC or C-USA team. Does exposure just mean television or are they thinking the presence of the football team is necessary? Will BYU only buy home games against teams from Idaho and Utah to maximize exposure/presence elsewhere?

I think a 2-1 or 3-2 with UMass, Villanova, Houston or UCF (which are trying to play their way into the Big East) would be great but who knows what Holmoe is thinking.

I also think a 1-1-1 system with home-away-neutral site (in places where exposure is important) would be sweet. They could start with Arizona and have the neutral site game in Glendale. It would be fun to work in the AD's office but I'm not willing to take the pay cut.

I think it means that we better play well or it's going to be embarrassing!

It means we are on TV more, better overall brand exposure, and if we want it to be good brand exposure, you have to win. Basically, BYU leveraged its position to improve its overall ability to market and position itself, but if we di not win, we will get buried on ESPN with crap times, and crap games. Winning is the next step. And winning a lot.
