Whoa. I wonder if that QB did anything else with the rest of his day.

This kid plays a lot like Bryan Kehl. He looks pretty good.

This kid can lay lumber - notice the number of helmets flying off of players that he tackles.

If he's related to Al Afalava who went to Oregon St, I don't like our chances.

He's fast and catches a lot of HS'ers from behind. Probably won't be able to do that in college.



Looks like he sheds blocks pretty well and takes pretty good lines on a lot of those plays. Also like the aggressiveness and ability to read the play.

From Gurney Tweets, looks like his cousin is/was at Oregon State. BYU and Utah both want this kid and I'm sure he'll have more offers before all is said and done.

Per Gurney, BYU has a shot. But has an outside shot. June 2 JR Day will be big. After losig Biegel, this is the type of kid BYU needs to lock up--high rated, LDS, in-state. These kids need to be priority 1.

Latest article on Afalava has him with Oregon at top, Utah next. Per Jared, Utah is ahead of BYU, because they offer more "freedom". If that is his concern, Utah is a better fit as well.



“I’m very good friends with Harvey Langi who is up there, so I’d love to play with him at Utah. Utah has more freedom that BYU does, and I like that about them, too. I’ve always loved their program, and I really love the coaches there. They have a strong Polynesian influence with their team, which is a big thing for me, too. I definitely like Utah more than BYU at this point.”

Regarding his opinion of BYU, “I have a sister that goes there, so I like that. Family and staying close to family is very important to me. I like how they have a clean campus and good standards, and I like that they offered me first. They have a good program, too.”



However, his statement about UT offering more freedom makes me think that he feels the HC will be a potential stumbling block. Another Manti Teo IMO.

There are silly parts of he HC that are not tied to worthiness. They are restricting simply for the sake of restricting. Facial hair, hair cut, cultural tats (some view it this way--not me), etc. To many, that might be a huge turn off. So if he referred to that element of the HC, fair enough. IF he referred to other elements of the HC, just means he knows he is not a good fit. He refers to Langi as his best friend, and not to rip Harvey Langi, but he made some dumb choices in HS. Might not have been a BYU fit. Best of luck, and enjoy losing to BYU in the future.

1/4/11 - Chose Nebraska over Washington, and also received offers from Utah, Arizona State, UCLA, Colorado and BYU at various times. Never seemed like a good fit at BYU compared to some of his former Bingham teammates.
