Best Ever--OLB Edition

To get us through the Spring/Summer doldrums, I'll start one of these each week. Monday I'll set the position and let you all submit names for consideration. After a couple of days, I'll take your nominations and create a poll thread to open up the voting as well as a more pointed debate, with a CougarCorner winner being crowned each Sunday evening.



This week = the Outside Linebackers---who do you think is in the conversation for best ever? Don't be afraid to date yourself either!

Based upon BYU career and NFL, the list is short.

Yes, but this means there are others who probably should get mentions but don't because we no longer remember how well they could have been if they hadn't had injuries too.

Leon White. Do we even need a vote.

Kyle Van Noy.



The kid was the best defensive player we had as a freshmen (apologies to Andrew Rich). I can't wait to see what he does in 3 years.

In the Bronco era, it would have to be Kehl and Nixon, but Van Noy might be the best yet!

Two from the 96 year. Brad Martin and Spencer Reid. Martin played and started most of his 4 years. Reid was the player who told omarr Morgan to jump that slant route.

if we are considering injuries, and riding the pine your entire fresh. year because you are in your douchebag of a coach's doughouse; (Jamie "everyone play 15 yards off the ball" Hill ) then I would have to submit Pendleton to the list, regardless of what he can/can't do this year.



As far as actual performance with a non-injury/non-doghouse "handicap" you have to go with Kehl and Leon White.

I don't know.,. just trying to throw some other names out there..

Gouveia played ILB and played the position the way he did because he played next to Leon White.

Gouveia was an outside backer--best we've ever had hands down. Leon White is a close second.
